How long do you set the lifespans?
« on: March 17, 2010, 02:48:09 PM »
I want to start a legacy but i want to make it kind of average life span because short is to little and long is too much for me, so i was wondering what do you guys set the lifespan to in the options?

Thanks.

If you are following Pinstar's Rules you will have to use Normal. If you are just doing a Legacy with no cheats like me then I still use normal, but it's entirely up to you, I have had them complete LTW with lots of time to spare.

I think pretty much any Legacy worth playing would have a Normal lifespan.  Pinstar's legacy definitely requires Normal setting.  The only time I really use Long lifespan is when I'm laying one of the challenges here on the forum.

If you play a legacy on long and you stick with it for a while like 10 generations, you will be playing it for a VERY long time. Even at normal lifespan, some players take months to complete it.

I play Epic because I don't want the neighbours to die fast. Besides, every Sim I have can have full skill levels in one age. Heh.

I know its weird but I usually start with young adult with the life span set to epic. When i fulfill the lifetime wish or/and am content with my Sim's job and money he/she made, I usually find him/her their partner and start a family. When i have a baby in house I set the life span to normal and when the baby becomes a child, I set it back to epic. :)

Seems weird now when I wrote it :D.

I do that sometimes. But it feels like cheating(for me) at times.

I occasionally use long, but I tend to use normal most of the time. Short and medium seem like they would be too quick, and epic is way too long for me. How can anybody deal with taking care of a baby for 30 days? :o

OK, I guess that's one way to deal with it.  :D

The original question was how long to set the lifespan for a legacy family.  Using Epic isn't allowed if you're going to follow the legacy rules.  They almost always require Normal lifespan, for the very reasons y'all mention.  On a longer lifespan, your Sims can achieve much more that will make their lives easier, which is not the objective of a challenge.

Well, I basically had a wealthy CEO on epic lifespan and wanted to start a private legacy, so I set it to normal.

Thanks for your help guys :)
