My son in law gave me this a few months ago as I am an avid Renaissance festival and pirate festival playtron. I was loath to load it because I didn't have the time to learn a new game. I'm a die hard SIMS II fan and after reading some things about SIMS III decided not to switch up. In any case, I finally loaded the game yesterday morning. It is hugely different than SIMS II. This is what has bugged me so far.
I was not expecting that I couldn't build. Sometimes I think half the reason I play SIMS II is because I like to plan and build and decorate.
I too wish that the game had horses, but I just speed up the time and make them run their butts off.
I wish that SIMS could use all the objects. As an example, I'd like for my monarch to be able to play the lute.
I dislike that in a single game, you can only control up to 10 Hero SIMS. I'd like to control my maid, and that idiot adviser.
I dislike that when I send a SIM off to patrol, or on the ship, or even to shop, I can't see where they end up. One of the things I enjoy about SIMS II is sending them into town to eat out, or go bowling, or go shopping.
I AM super digging on the monarch's ability to send people to the stocks or the pit. Tee, hee!
At this point, I'm finding the game amusing, but it sort of reminds me of Monkey Island on steroids. I don't feel like I have enough god-like control. However, I do plan to purchase the Pirates and Nobles module when it comes out at the end of August.
