Kingdom Aspects - Why Are They Neutral?
« on: July 30, 2011, 11:42:38 AM »
So I looked through Carl's entire Medieval Guide and through 99% of the posts in the forum, but couldn't really find an answer to my question.

I understand how adding buildings and going on quests adds/improves the 4 kingdom aspects. After completing a quest to increase Security (everyone was getting mugged), my Security aspect changed to green/high with 10 of the 12 points available.

Then I completed another quest to increase my Knowledge and Culture and when I checked my Aspects Overview, yes Knowledge and Culture had gone green, but Security had turned Neutral/yellow. I thouht it would stay green unless something happened in a quest to cause it to decrease.

I've looked everywhere but can't find anything that explains that or the impact of aspects being neutral. My Kingdom Renown is over 300.

What am I missing? When I get an aspect to green, how do I keep it there? Linda

Hi Linda.  I see that nobody has responded to your question although it has had a number of views.  I don't know if neutral aspects have much of an effect on your kingdom.  Certainly, very high or very low aspects can have different effects, but neutral?  I don't really know.  There are some quests that cause aspects to go down, I do know that.  I wouldn't have thought an aspect would go down for no reason, though.  The only way I know to keep aspects high is to choose quests based on which aspects they promote, and not do quests that cause aspects to drop.

Thanks so much for your response. Wasn't sure if I had actually stumped everyone (chuckle!).

I completed one more quest yesterday to improve well-being and knowledge. Culture was in the green when I started and it was still green when I finished, along with well-being and knowledge. Security was still yellow, but as you said, it doesn't seem to have an effect one way or the other.

I'll just keep working through the quests (only have a few left before I hopefully complete the New Beginnings Ambition). I've already got all the buildings and only a few quests left. Hope I don't have to do all of them, since one kills off my monarch and I really like him and don't want to do that (another chuckle!).

Thanks again for your help! Linda

The colours of Kingdom Aspects are relative to the number of either QP you've spent in the kingdom or Renown. If you have 10 Security and 200 Renown (for example) then it will be considered high, but 10 Security with 300 Renown is just average. Really the only way I know to keep it green is to get to 12/12.

Kaliopae, Thanks for your response and sorry I'm late with the thanks. Real life just keeps getting in the way!

I think I'm beginning to get the gist of this. My Renown is now over 400 and I'm seeing the aspects staying green as I max them out.

Still trying to get a handle on the Quest Points part. Initially, I thought they added up like everything else, but through reading Carl's guide, the forum posts and playing I understand that they are more like a bank of points that decreases. The only problem I'm having with that is trying to figure out what's left.

I tried 'hovering over the little medallion under your Monarch's portrait at the top left of the Kingdom screen' as Carl's Guide suggests, but the only info it gives me there is the current ambition I'm doing - no QP listed. I've only seen Total QP listed at the bottom of the Quest selection screen and it's always been a low number. But in all honesty, at first, the signifigance of that number didn't register, so I don't remember if it started at a higher number. I don't remember seeing anything higher than 4 or 5. And now, as I'm working on my current quest, it says 1, so I don't know if this will be a problem when I try to complete the New Beginnings ambition.

I really 'love' the guide that you get with the game! NOT! It really doesn't tell you anything. I'm very glad I found this forum and Carl's Guide. I've learned so much more here. Thanks again for your help. Linda

The number of Quest Points should be displayed at the bottom of your quest log. The number of QP you start with depends on what ambition you're attempting, but it's usually 40, 50 or 60. On the screen where you can choose which kingdom to play it will tell you how many points you will have to start with, and how many are left in any kingdom in progress.

Each quest costs you a certain amount of QP, which will be listed next to the quest name. A couple use 1; most use 2, 3 or 4. If you have 1 QP left at the end you can still take a quest that costs 4QP and it'll just put you on 0. Once you've spent all your allocated QP it will tell you that you have Infinite QP left; what this means is that you can play any quest for fun but you can't complete ambitions or earn achievements in that kingdom any more.

Hope that helped :)

Yes, that helped alot. Looks like after I finish my current quest, I'm done with the New Beginnings Ambition! Sorry to lose the heros I've created, but have a much better idea for future ones now that I'm more familiar with the game.

Thanks again, Linda
