Marrying the Heir to Effonmount

Has anyone done this quest?  Right now my monarch has to make some royal custard and I have no clue where to begin.  I've tried going to the Village Shop, but no luck there and so far anyone I've talked to doesn't have anything to say about this.  I'll try a stroll in the forest tomorrow but after that I'm sunk unless it could be an ocean trip.

Royal custard can be made in the  oven. You can look up the recipe and ingredients in the pop up menu there.
Note: If you don't want to buy or don't have the money to buy an oven, there's one in the reception hall.

EDIT:  What a twit that guy is!  My monarch married him but his morose trait is a royal pain.  I wonder if divorce is acceptable or if it would cause a war?

I am stuck where my spy has to easedrop on the Effonmounts bodyguard. The guy just stays in the castle and I never get the "Easedrop" interaction. I have followed him around for 3 days already. It's getting real annoying and I am now down to silver reward on the quest already. Does anybody have any suggestions?  Thanks!

Try having someone talk to him (eg Monarch), then while they are talking, have your spy Eavesdrop on them. If you don't know, you click on a talking sim and the option to Eavesdrop appears.

It worked! Thank you so much for your comment! I had the Monarch talk to the bodyguard and then switched to Spy and got the "Easedrop" interaction. Sometimes it's just not that obvious.

I completed the quest and married the Effenmount Heir. The very next quest I was on also included the monarch, so I just immediately annulled the marriage. It didn't cause a war, or a decrease in loyalty that I could see

I did the same thing.    According to the storyline the Effenmount Heir did not want to marry anyway I figured why not.

I'm having a different problem. I thought I would get a head start on wooing the Princess, and was courting her when I then had to declare her my enemy. I advanced the quest along, but now cannot get betrothed to my "ex" as the only positive reaction received from social interaction comes from "apologize" and "chat" and then the Princess quickly finds me boring and every option creates negative reactions.
