Random character freezes

HI everyone! I know it is my first post here (I've been lurking around the forums and website for some time now) but I am having an extremely weird problem with the game (sims 3 with all the expansions up to Town Life stuff). When I go travelling to China, my characters (brand new, in Sunset Valley) gets these random glitches every minute or so - game clock freezes, characters is stuck but after a couple of secs is back to "normal". On the other hand, this thing doesn't happen in the regular town or the Egypt/France, at least for now. This makes the China part quite unplayable, a bit gamebreaking for me since I picked a character with the World Traveller life wish. Browsed through a couple of guides trying to identify or fix the problem but couldn't find anything!!!!

Any suggestions on what to do??

Welcome to the forum.  Unfortunately, it sounds like a common bug alot of people have.  I am not really sure there is an actual fix for it though.  There are alot worse ones that pertain to traveling, but if a person cannot play their game, they are all bad.  Not sure why some people have these problems and others don't, but I sure wish they would come out with a fix for these traveling bugs and all other glitches that make the game less than enjoyable.  I know it was not the answer you were looking for and maybe someone has another idea.  Good luck and happy simming.

I believe it is caused by broken routing in the WA worlds.  If you looked around, you might find NPCs stuck in various places unable to move.  You could reset them to free them up but they, or others, would eventually get stuck again.  WA is a bit of a mess, I'm afraid.

I'm not sure if this works in the foreign world but if you open up the cheat panel (ctrl+shift+c) and type in ResetSim * this resets all sims in your current town, including your own and all the other NPCs/Townies. I hope this works.

Hey thanks for the advice and the cheat code. It did fix the bizzare character freezes in China! I didn't really know this particular cheat command, as I don't use them normally, beside placing some collection spawners in places that don't have them. Now I manage to get things done there.

I've started using the global reset code quite often, both when traveling and when at home.  It helps any time I the game starts that sporadic freezing.
