Simbot .. too much shortcuts ?
« on: July 27, 2011, 06:54:07 PM »
My Simbot gets short cuts too many times, I just made it last night so it's 4 days game time almost till now and her got 4 shortcuts! .. Plus it is very slow (in walking) and it sleeps too much! I am starting to wonder if it was worth the effort to make it !!  :-[ I am a bit disappointed. I thought Simbot will be much more active and helpful than normal Sims , so is it normal or what?
I also want to know should I get her (the Simbot) a job? And when will it die? (I know this seems mean, but it's just making my household crowded and not helping in anything and not even exciting!)

Usually my simbots work fine, sometimes you have to reset them.
You can avoid short cuts, by not having them go in the water!

Check the Simbot's traits. If she is a heavy sleeper, then you may want to have the simbot a midlife crisis. Sometimes the Simbot can be a slob or couch potato.

Actually... SimBots don't need a mid-life crisis. ;) When they short out and there is another household member, there is a reprogram option. This allows to change their traits to whatever you want.

By short  cuts, do you mean short circuited?  Meaning she shorts out and stops working?  SimBots are prone to this type of thing, especially if you put them in water.  I had mine get in a hot tub and he shorted out.

As for the other issues, they don't have anything special.  They sleep as much as a regular Sim.  They live longer than a normal Sim, but I don't think anyone knows for sure how long.  On top of that, all the other Sims get that interruption "Oh!  A SimBot!" that is very annoying.  I don't bother with SimBots anymore.  You can always just kick it out of the house and it'll live on it's own.

Really? so if I used kick out or move , will it move to another house and live safely? because when it was first made and I had 2 options adopt or let out in wild , this makes me think that if I let it out anytime it will be just thrown to the streets :D and maybe live in the junkyard or something , that's why I didn't want to kick out as to not feel guilty later  ;D

what about using "trigger age transition" !??

When you kick it out, it gets a shelter in one of the available houses in the town. You can use trigger age transition if you want to age her up quickly, but I believe kicking out is more human and quick. :)
Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? And I'm not about to waste my time trying to change it. - Lady GaGa

If you trigger an age transtion on a simbot it will just die of old age.  At least, that was my personal expereince with it.

If you move them out or release them "into the wild," they will take up residence in the town somewhere.  So no need to feel guilty.  :P

On the rare occasions I build simbots, I usually end up tasking them to some particular job within the house.  The last time I made one, I locked them in the nursery and had them tend to the children's needs and train them.  At least babies and toddlers don't get the ever constant "Oh my god, a simbot!" every time they lay eyes on one.  This made it useful and prevented the regular interruptions typical in the other sims.
