It bothered me until one time while controlling a different Sim in the house and I got the message of failure. I paused the game and went to check on the Sim. When I got to the room he was in it was filled with a giant fireball! Couldn't see him at all. Made me laugh.

How can the child get the IF Metamorphium drink to make her IF toy real?  Should the adult/parent/chemist give her the potion as a drink? Or do we just place the drink in the child's inventory for the "make real" option to come appear?  :)

Athena,

When I did it in one of my Sims family, I just dragged and dropped the potion from the parent's inventory to the child's one. Then the option appeared. At first, it was grey, and I couldn't click on it. I just improved the relationship between the child and the IF (to best friend), and the option was selectable.

I'm really getting frustrated with this thing. Is there a certain required Logic level to start making those potions? My Sim is already level 7 and still no discovered potions. He developed his Logic to that level using this thing, in addition. Also, I hate that it acts and looks so much like the inventing workbench that came with Ambitions. Kind of boring.

The higher the Sim's Logic level, the faster they will discover potions.  I've had Sims with no Logic take forever to discover anything at all, but the ones that already had a high Logic level discovered potions much faster and were less likely to get singed.  And, of course, they can't discover the potion that reverses aging until they reach Logic 10.  I think it might actually be faster to take the time to have them read Logic books at the Library first, then once they're up to level 8 or 9, start them on the chemistry set.  Haven't tried this yet, but I think that's what I'll do next time.

I tried out the radical reparum - I don't know if sims get faster at making the potions the higher skill or the more they make, but at lvl 4, it takes 3 hours to make a potion. It doesn't seem to weigh up as saving time when you account for how long it takes to make (just fiddling with some ways of doing the starship crescent challenge, and having one sim make these potions doesn't help - and it doesn't speed up upgrades). Unless you are playing a challenge or game where you have one essentially useless sim wandering around waiting to die, and one really busy sim who you want to be fixing things, it's not worth it.

It seems to me that the main benefit of the Radical Reparum potion is that it allows a Sim without the Handy trait to do upgrades without failing at them.  I think the only time-saving is that your Sim won't have to start over again when their first upgrade attempt has failed.  I've had a lot of non-handy Sims waste a great deal of time having an upgrade fail just before it was completed, so the potion is definitely helpful that way.  But I don't know how the time of making the potion + doing the upgrade compares to doing the upgrade without the potion and maybe having to start over.

It still takes ages to discover a single potion. My Sim with Logic at level 10 needed about 3.5 hours to discover the Liquid Horror, another 3 for Bladder Flow and finally grand 7 for Ninja Vanish. I haven't gotten any far than those yet. Actually, now that I think about it... I had a few programs running in background but full screen during the first two, and then Sims on background during Ninja Vanish. I read here that nectar value is affected by the PC quality, mainly RAM etc. Is it possible that the time that takes to discover potions has straight connection to CPU/RAM too?
