Question on deBug mode
« on: January 29, 2010, 11:03:12 AM »
Somewhere on the forum, I remembered reading wildredchild's post about using deBug mode as fish spawner in ponds on your sims' lots.  Normally I don't do this sort of thing...guess I had a wild hair somewhere. ::)  Anywho, I put cheat in and low and behold, all kinds of spawners, fish, butterflies and gems and metals.  So I put 3 different kinds of fish in pond, butterflies in the flower garden and tiberium out back.  Metal never showed up but butterflies and fish did.  The fish even jumped :o (which I thought required a mod for them to do this).

The problem came when I went to a different lot and I could see the boxes on the lot I put the spawners on...not cool.  Then when I sent sim down to bookstore (in SV) I could see boxes all over Central Park where there are spawners everywhere...definitely not cool. :o

So to shorten it, I deleted all my "spawners" and everything returned to normal.  Was the boxes showing up normal or is my game glitched so that I can't use this cheat?  (I don't normally use cheats like this cause I'm an enormous chicken when I comes to possibly ruining my game.)

When using the spawners, I have never changed lots, as in moving, so I don't know if they show up for my games.  I would guess that is it a glitch in your current game though.  I did catch something about a bug in the debug thing over in the official site in the forums.  Good luck!

There you are wild ;D

Don't ya just love glitches? ::)  Figures though...nuts!

I put just one fish spawner in pond, the koi I think, and 2 of the butterflies I can't delete, but it's okay.  No more of those stupid boxes showing up.

I told my sister about the cheat and now she's got tiberium comin out her eyeballs...figures.  :P :D

No the boxes aren't supposed to be visible in live mode, though they will be in build/buy mode. As for the metals not showing up....some of them, like the mummitomium only show up sometimes. The majority of the time, it will spawn copper or iron and then every few days, you'll get a block of mummitomium. I think the same thing happens with the Tiberium.

I cheated once while in Egypt because my sim got the adventure where he had to find 3 pieces of mummitomium but of course, there wasn't any to be found anywhere! For 3 days, he looked for it and it was not there. So I put a mummitomium spawner on the base camp lot hoping that it was speed up the process. It didn't. It still just spawned copper and iron for a couple more days. He had to go home before he finished that adventure. But the next time he came back, the mummitomoium was finally available at the base camp location.

If you really want to have mummitomium so bad that you cheat to get it, just have some treasure chest with buyDebug, enable testingcheatsenabled and control-click on the treasure chest and choose the mummitomium as the treasure inside. Now you can get lots of them!

Not so fun though.

Yeah, but with an adventure, the mummitomium will show up sooner or later.  It has to, even if it takes another visit.  It's just that it's so rare it doesn't just spawn and sit on the ground every day.  You have to be patient.  :)
