Best way to earn money gardening?

In Sunset Valley, the last empty lot near the beach gets the moodlet, though oddly, the lot next door which is larger and also right near the beach with a lovely view of the lighthouse, dosent.. go figure

A Job, Collecting something, gardening, writing novels, fishing, painting, stealing and selling stuff, buying lots, or something else: what is the best way to make money? Not just lots of money, but also a steady amount of money.
ie: Give a Sim a laptop and a Moodlet manager they can basically write Stephen King forever with very little supervision; but is that the best way to earn money?copied

I generally find, writing novels gives a steady income, (due to getting royalties once a week) though I have also made a fair bit of money with gardening once you get to the perfect plant stage, though this got a little out of hand and both my sims had to harvest everyday.  My garden was huge haha.

This thread is veering off topic.  It's not about the best way to make money in the game.  It's specifically about the best way to make money gardening.  We have other threads to discuss overall moneymaking in the game.

When you travel don't forget to harvest the local plants for your home garden.  China(plums,pomelos, cherries) and France(various grapes) have good spots for this. In Eygpt they are a little harder to find but you can purchase a pomegranate and certain tombs have plants like flame fruit.

Thanks everyone! I haven't gotten a chance to play particular families long enough and I tend to get side-tracked by adventures. One of my sims did get the ability to plant cheese and eggs. I read the guide about it, so I was pretty excited to soon have the opportunity to plant the Omni Plant. I haven't read too much into it, but it sounds really neat!

Quick question: where can I find/how can I obtain money tree seeds? And omni plant?

Money Tree seeds are found around town - they are labelled "Unknown Special Seeds", along with some others. They are more gold-coloured than other seeds (confirmed). Omni Plant seeds are found through the "Uncommonly Good", "Outstandingly Rare" and "The Omnificent Plant" opportunities.

Sorry if this is off topic, but is there a specific place that money tree seeds tend to be (i.e. Near the graveyard)?

If you're playing in Sunset Valley, Carl's guide has some great maps to help you find all the spawn points for everything: seeds, fish, butterflies, gems, metals, etc. Check out the Collecting Guide. If you're playing in another town, I suggest googling the spawners you need; I've usually found what I was looking for.
