Martial Arts Tournament - Do you have to go to China?

Is there any way to compete in the MA tournament outside of China?  I have a post-patch bug in my latest dynasty which is preventing my sims from returning to China (they never appear there after the loading screen is finished).

I already have the board breaker and training dummy, so I can complete all the supermax requirements for MA except the tournament. 

Any advice on how to fix the bug or supermax MA without going to China is much appreciated.

I think I remember reading about someone who had copied the Martial Arts Academy and placed it in their home town to allow them to do tournaments at home.  Unfortunately, I couldn't find that thread so I don't know if it works, but it might be worth trying. 

I just reread your post and I see that it's your Dynasty game, so you probably wouldn't be able to do this as it would involve using Edit Town.  That being the case, I don't think there's any way to complete the tournament outside of China.  And I just don't know of any way around the bug.  Personally, I've been avoiding travel for a long time because of the bugs.  I thought the latest patch was intended to fix some of the travel bugs - have you downloaded that patch yet?

Thank you, Schipperke.  It was the most recent patch that caused the problem.  I was having some inconvenient issues with traveling to China in that my vacation home kept disappearing when I would come back to SV.  I would have to re-purchase it on the next trip.  Fortunately the game refunded the money I spent on it, so it really was just an inconvenience and not a game breaker.

I don't think putting the MA Academy in my town is an option for my dynasty file since I would have to use 'Edit Town' to do so.  I'm trying to rework my dynasty plan to see if I can find another skill to supermax instead of MA.

Yeah, that's probably best, Katluvr.  Too bad.  This would be such a great game if everything worked properly.
