I just like all the scrap and rare meteors it gives out. Seriously, that huge meteor can be a whopper $30,000 buckaroos. But yeah, sure it's dangerous. I don't care.  ;D I'll make a test to see if the telescope theory works.

That's one of the reasons I would like it! The first time my sim found a meteor, it was actually sitting on the side of the road!
Regarding the telescope theory, you've actually reminded me that I saw something somewhere, I don't know where, that supported the fact.
It might've been on this forum, but I don't know. I'll try to see if I can remember where.

News Update:  I finally had my first meteor in the game!  The video of the event can be found here, on my YouTube channel.  No one was injured, and nothing was damaged...but the big rock was worth almost $3,000.

My sim was taking a shower at the gym in Riverview.  She is brand new (week 1, day 3) and doesn't have the money to afford her own shower, never mind a telescope.  Not only was she not looking through one, she's never even seen one.  Likewise, I've had a couple of other sims who have trained logic to level 10 by way of a telescope, and this is the first time I've seen one in my game.

That theory holds as much water as a colander.  When it does happen while a sim is looking through a telescope, it's nothing more than coincidence.

Okay, I've got good news. Or kind of good news.
Doing searches for any tips, I've found something. I'm going to test it out. Don't get your hopes up - it might not work.

EDIT: I should also mention that this is totally safe. So no crispy sims. :)
EDIT 2: Well, that went down badly.
You see, I found that there would be a reaction if you typed "ep2meteorshower" into the Fog Emitter from Ambitions. I was right - there was an explosion, but that's it. No shadow, no nothing except a big boom. :(
Back to hoping.

I will have to try that, though.
Sounds cool.

I've never had to force a meteor. Almost had my sim killed many times in different games. Make them run when they see 'It's so dark". Had a whole house destroyed, nothing left and then there was a stench "clean up", that took days!
I can do without meteors.

I have to agree with MoMall. I have had two major meteor's on my lots, (one in Sunset Valley, the other in Twinbrook) and the cost and clean up was massive and annoying. The first one I was entertained. The second one I was saying, "Oh no, not again". The event itself is dramatic and fun to watch, but if I had the option to cancel a meteor event, I would.

I still haven't had a meteor. EA should have made a cheat for them. My town would be destroyed if there was. I prefer meteors that cause huge fires, lost items, lots of scrap, and lots of rocks. That would make me very pleased. *rubs hands together evilly*

Well, if EA is enabling the "Edit in CAS" cheat in Generations, then they'll hopefully put in a meteor shower cheat.
Side note: They actually are enabling "Edit in CAS". Post-Generations, if you enable TestingCheats and Shift-Click a sim, you'll get the option to take a Sim back to CAS. That's what I've read, at least.
