Is the Special Edition worth it?
« on: May 11, 2011, 04:31:52 PM »
Hello, I am considering purchasing the Sims Medeival. However, I was wondering if the Special Edition is worth paying twice the amount as the regular version. The regular version is only $25 but he Special Edition is $50. Are the 3 additional throne rooms and the 4 additional outfits worth it?

First off, Welcome to the Forum!

As for your question, it's mostly personal choice. If you like increased customization, than it could be worth it. I personally don't think it is, but each person has their own opinion.

Double the cost is quite a lot, in my opinion.  It was free if you pre-ordered the game and it was definitely worth it then.  But, wow, paying double!  I don't know.  The three extra throne rooms are nice, but you don't really spend that much time in the throne room.  Only when you're playing the Monarch, for the most part.  Or when a quest takes you there.  Four new outfits are nice, too, but you really get quite a few with the regular game.

Welcome to the forum!
I have the Special/Limited Edition of the game (I paid $3 extra!). I have no idea what the new outfits are. I know I got the popup, but I don't know them.
On topic: The bonus throne rooms are just pretty much there to suit a sims personality. The "Lair of dark Sorcery" throne room is appropriate for an Evil, Cruel monarch, but not for a friendly jokester.
I guess that it can also be helpful for people who get tired of looking at the same scene over and over.

I don't think mine was special edition, and I paid altogether WAY too much for it (AU$100). I was able to get a code elsewhere to unluck to bonus items though.

Personally I don't feel like paying twice as much for the extra items is worth it. You can get three spiffy throne room choices but you always have the ability to make the throne room like however you want it to look. You already get a ton of outift choices and even more when your watcher level goes up, so the bonus outfits won't make much of a difference. But that's my opinion mind you! I like saving money for other things anyways. ;)

Well I don't know if I would fork out twice the price but I opted for the special edition.  I want the total simming experience whether it is a silly little plumb bob USB stick (as with TS3) or extra throne rooms.  I would hate to think I missed out on something.  ;D
