is this a cooking glitch?
« on: September 01, 2009, 10:34:36 AM »
I tried asking this on sims3 forum, but got buried in seconds.  When a sim is cooking, no matter how many skill points they have, sims will stand at stove, waiting with leg jiggling (cute) and then wave hand over pan, blow on food and make noise like, "Darn,"  but then the food turns out fine.  They do this almost all the time. :-\  At first it was cute but now it is just annoying.  Any suggestions as to why this is happening? ???

Thanks in advance. :)

Who has time to cook?   :-\

Mine do this too, though not every time.  I have one sim who has reached level 10 and I've never seen her do it.

Tried duplicating it, can't get my Sim to do it. Even though to try making her really hungry first, and tried making her a perfectionist. Maybe the food just wouldn't ever be good enough for a Sim with that trait. Since I couldn't make it happen, could it be a trait-specific thing?

Thanks for the responses.  It doesn't happen all the time but even natural cooks trait do it. ::)  Anyway was just wondering.  At least they fixed the panic attacks in the pool.  :)

Mine tend to have that behavior when they are in the lower levels, then it stops when they reach the top.  They get all fancy with their cooking moves then.

There were panic attacks in the pool? I missed that.

Sorry we didn't nail this down, but as I continue to write more I'll watch for this behavior and try to find some link. I'm interested in knowing most everything about how this game works :)

Hey Carl...yup on the panic attacks (that's what I called them).  The sim would swim around for a bit then start to whimper and look around nervously.  They would do this quite often while swimming.  Even the ones who had all their athletic points.  Thank heavens the second patch cured it.

No kidding, after losing a Sim to a fire, and electrocution, I was leary of swimming itself. I didn't want my Sim to participate in something that could potentially kill them. I'm glad to say that nowadays I feel it's safe and I like watching my Sims enjoy getting out of the heat. (Looking forward to weather)

My sims get that cooking panic behavior too.
Also they often seem to be choking on their food, I wonder if they can die from it! :o

I think it goes away too when they get better at cooking.
