Old computer vs sims 3 problems+questions

Problem one.

Launcher.
Having some problems with it being ridiculously slow. o___o;
Ive decided to get a sims3 pack extractor and try to download packages much as i can and putting them on the right location. [can't get cc houses to work, but for some reason i couldn't with the launcher]

Now maybe this is just some bug with my computer and the launcher,
i re downloaded it a few times but no difference to everything about it being completely slow.
It might also be the windows xp service pack one or the settings where the whole computer is focused around running the sims 3.

I do not mind it a lot, i can get the updates but i need to plan that ahead.
But i would like to know if i can get my screenshots from any where in the sims files network and how i get custom content houses to work [if this is possible that way]
edit: and if i can share sims without the launcher and where i can find those files, id love to make some sims for cc *w*

Night life bad version or just a lot heavier then the base game?

Ive got the sims Night life myself last weekend,
but when i install it it becomes horrible slow.
Now i noticed when i updated the base game to the version night life needed to install and played it it was as slow as NL is.

Ive been wondering if it's just a bad version/update and if other people have noticed some versions/updates to have this effect sometime.

Btw with horrible slow i mean to the point where it takes 3 hours to load the game and 5 to load a family. Which is just crazy as it takes only 10 minutes to load the game and 15 to load a family on the base game when i don't have NL installed.

The old beast has a "new" intel duo processor [we just put it in there because the one cpu couldn't run anything released after 2009], windows xp, geforce fx5950 [don't ask how it's running the sims 3 i don't have a clue], with 4 gb ram ddr[ddr400<--where ever thats stands for, it's first gen ddr is all i can make out from the ddr card]

It's water cooled so ive overclocked it to run just under 4ghz. :3

I using a tiny laptop to brows online and am currently downloading cc trough that and not directly on the old desktop to keep it clean as possible.

I have Late Night, and it doesn't run slow for me.  And my processor speed is a bit under the minimum requirements for Vista, too.  Everything else either meets or exceeds the requirements.

I don't think I've ever heard of someone getting a "bad version" or a bad patch, but I suppose it's possible.  How likely it is, I can't even begin to say.  But if you suspect this is the problem, you could try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

As far as sharing things you've created in the game:  if you were planning on sharing them here, then you wouldn't need the launcher even if it did work.  You simply click the "Share" button and it creates a Sims3pack in Exports folder (Documents/Electronic Arts/Sims 3/Exports).  Then you create a thread in the appropriate place in the Swap Shop, and attach the file to the post.  You'll find the guidelines for using the Swap Shop here.  As far as the official Exchange goes, I'm not totally sure there is a way to share without using the launcher, but there might be.  Any other site will likely have their own instructions posted somewhere.

If you do intend on sharing things here, you should be aware that Carl's Guide has a strict no 3rd party custom content rule.  Custom content and mods are one of the largest causes of game related problems (if not THE largest), and have been known to cause irreparable damage to game files and can corrupt game saves.  Many people have wasted many hours of their lives reinstalling their games (sometimes over and over), and have lost countless hours of game play as a direct result of 3rd party custom content and/or mods.  I'm one of those people, so I speak from first hand experience.

We have no issue with anyone who has a desire to create custom content.  In fact, if you wish to do so, more power to you.  You just can't share it or link to it here.

If you have any questions about this rule, or any other rule, there's a link to them in my signature.  If you don't find the answers you're looking for there, feel free to send me or any other moderator a message, and we'll be happy to address your questions personally.  The only dumb question is the one you don't ask.  ;)

Welcome to the Forum, Lola.

I'm going to move this thread to the Technical Help board.  You may get more responses there.

Also, the use of proper English is one of the Forum Rules, so if you would be careful to capitalize "I" when it's being used as a pronoun, I'd really appreciate it.  You can also use the Spell Check button to help catch other things such as typos and missing apostrophes.  There's a link to the rules in my signature below.
Read and heed the Forum Rules, please!
