I don't think that your mistake was idiotic at all.  It is a laptop after all, it isn't unreasonable to think that the repair person might be able to pick the darned thing up and move it to a spot where it could be repaired.  All games have little quirks.  S3 is a pretty complex game with many interactions available, it can take a while to learn how to correct insert tab A into slot B in every situation.

Since the game has so many bugs and glitches, sometimes it's hard to figure out  if it's you or the game causing the problem...  So no question is ever silly.
