Missing traits on YA
« on: October 01, 2009, 01:21:34 AM »
While playing the legacy challenge, I got a message for choosing 2 new traits for Brandon.
Of course, according to the rules I have to randomize the outcome, but in doing so Brandon didn't get new traits.
He still has the 3 he got from birth and being a child.

Is there a way to catch up on this? (like when he ages again?)

Normally, you'll get to add a trait when they age up to teenager, then another one for young adult, which rounds out the five traits.  If you actually rolled for two traits and they didn't show up, that sounds like some kind of glitch.  Or perhaps you accidently clicked on the exit button instead of the accept button.  I've done that more than once myself.  At any rate, if you missed getting the traits, you won't be able to catch up on them in-game.  I've had that happen, too, and my Sim just lived with only 3 or 4 traits.  Another option is to try re-loading the previous saved game and re-playing the birthday to make sure you get the traits.  Carl has posted instructions on how to re-load a previous game.  The link is here:

Well, I guess I'll just play along then.
The traits he does have are awesome:
Artistic, Virtuoso and one I can't remember exactly, but his lifetime wish is master of the arts so I think I've been lucky enough.

As you read the update on the legacy story, you'll see why I don't want to replay the birthday  ;)

I loose traits all the time I select one and it gone.  I think it is when they go from teen to YA or kid to teen.

The way that I usually lose traits is when I select the trait, but fail to click the "up" arrow to actually add it to the list of traits.  If you click the ok button without clicking that up arrow, you'll get a message that your Sim can still have more traits with the option to back up or continue.  You can still salvage it if you click the back up button.  But I've clicked the continue button many times without even thinking.

Maybe this will help others get all their traits!

I've noticed that with David I have 5 traits and selected one every birthday (at random of course)
With Brandon I didn't even see the select traits screen as he became a teen and got to choose 2 when he became YA.
I secretly have my hopes up, maybe when he becomes an adult...

But like I said, the traits he has are just fine  ;)

Happens to me occasionally. Usually when I marry an NPC. Like the pizzagirl and maid came with just 4 traits. Just use the boolprop cheat and click on the Sim to open the Trait screen.

Nice tip, I won't use it on Brandon though, I want a cheat free legacy (which rhymes  8))
I guess I just have to pay more attention on what I'm doing  ;D

In real life I have the clumsy trait  ;)

Thank you Pam.

This challenge really lets you appreciate the real achievements in the game.
