Can adventures be resumed after losing/regaining an object?
« on: January 05, 2010, 09:07:54 PM »
My legacy has totally been hijacked by trips to China.  Every time I leave, I have a reason to go back!

Anyway, my Sim was on an adventure to get the writings of Qin Jin (Qui Gon Jinn?) or something from a tomb.  He found them, but the vacation ended before he could deliver them.  While at home, I cleaned out his inventory, since it was getting crowded, sticking everything in a treasure chest in the house--including the writings.  In due course, I headed back to China to complete the adventure, and completely forgot to bring the writings with me.

A message popped up saying that they'd been lost, and the opportunity disappeared from his tab.  If I returned to China with the writings in the future, will I still be able to complete the adventure?  I really don't want to take another vacation for that reason only to find out that I can't do anything with them.

I haven't encountered this specific situation, but I think it would be worth a try.  I've had other adventures interrupted because a target is no longer available and it came back at the same spot later.

Well, there are a finite number of adventures, so I'd think if you've completed a lot of them you have a good chance of that one popping up again. Let us know how it goes, I've wondered on how easily you can get the same adventure to come up again... this is an extreme case and if you can get this one then anyone should be able to snag missed opportunities.

Well, that was weird.  As I said, I left the writings behind and when I arrived in China, I got a message that basically told me off for losing them.

At the end of the vacation, I received the usual message telling me that I had twelve hours left before I had to go home.  Then I got an opportunity message congratulating me for finding the writings, and my Sim had the little 'deliver the writings' direction appear on his bar.  I checked his inventory, and the writings had rematerialised.  I promptly delivered them, and was given my reward.

When I got home, I looked in the chest.  The writings were still there.  Same writings.  My Sim wasn't even in any tombs when the duplicate writings appeared in his inventory--he'd been doing a different adventure since then, and both of them were for the special merchant in China.  She was supposed to be taking his platinum and lapis lazuli to make a statue, and I forgot to check if that adventure was still active or whether it's been lost now.

So, I'm not really sure what happened, but it appears the game does try to make sure you can complete these things!  I should probably go back to China and see if I can resume my statue quest, but I'm itching to explore France or Egypt instead.
