Merchant and Aspiring Chef Non Stop Cooking
« on: April 07, 2011, 08:15:43 PM »
My merchant is on a quest-something about acquiring meat.  There is an NPC named Aspiring Chef Bronson that has not left her house area.  He is constantly cooking Gruel. Non Stop-he is filling the top of the table with 6 bowls, keeps cooking and starts to put them on the floor.  There are so many bowls of spoiled gruel around that my merchant has to keep clicking them to clean.  Is this something that anyone has encountered?  I have tried clicking on him but I don't get anything to ask him to stop cooking or leave. He's driving me crazy!  Any suggestions?  Thanks

Unfortunately, until the quest is over and he goes with your hero to the castle, he will continue making gruel.  Mine did the same thing, every available space had a bowl of gruel on it.  I thought, if he is such a good chef, then why is he only making gruel, lol.  Ya just have to put up with for the time being.  One thing, everyone from everywhere did manage to come to my hero's house and eat. :)
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

You could take advantage of it and put all the bowls into your sim's inventory. There is a watcher achievement for having 25 bowls of food in you inventory :D

Actually I kind of have a solution for this but I don't know if it will work for you too. I moved the fireplace downstairs when that annoying chef wouldn't stop making gruel.

The first time didn't work but the second time did work. (I know I'm kind of stubborn) The chef will then cook only when you ask him to for the quest. I think it's a matter of positioning but I can't remember exactly where I moved that fireplace.

Sorry, if you have the patience you could find out by yourselves but I think it isn't actually worth it ;D

Yeah, that NPC chef is quite annoying. I ran into that doing that same Quest when I was writing the Merchant Guide. Ron Popeil was at the point he was ready to make a Aspiring Chef Chopper.

ROFLMBO!  Only you, Metro, would have come up with that.  Kudos!

Thanks everyone for your help  I'm going to try them in the inventory, then move the fireplace.  He is so annoying!
I guess it wouldn't be so bad if he was making something a bit fancier than tons of bowls of gruel!
