What's best way to safely exit out?
« on: September 25, 2010, 03:30:28 AM »
Playing the Sims tonight, my game froze.  All the 'graphics' were unfrozen though.  You could hear the crickets, brambles and plants swayed gently in the breeze, my Sims plumbob still spun.  But I was unable to do anything.  Could not cancel my Sims actions, move around the cursor, bring up the cheats panel, nothing.  I ended up CTRL+AlT+DEL and ended the process.  Is there a better way to end the game?  Everything seems fine when I reloaded it, but it made me scared that my game would be a total mess from force closing it.  So next time (knocks on wood that it won't happen) something like this happens is what I did the best action?  Are there other ways that I do not know about?  Thanks for the help.

I do not know of any other way other then what you did to exit the game.  When I have freezes that is exactly what I do.

I have a windows Vista and when it freezes on me, I hit the windows button, click on start, control panel, view running tasks with task manager, find the sims 3 ambitions, click it and hit end task.

I think the Windows button and Ctrl+Alt+Delete do the same thing.

@gerrr00:  Did you use the Task Manager to exit your frozen game?

It does, Pam. I think that's the safest way to exit a frozen game.

Sorry, I didn't know that as I've never used it. Sorry again.

I did go through the task manager to end my game.  This was the first time my game quit responding.  I have been very fortunate and have had bugs but nothing like this.  Thank you for all the replies and I am glad I exited the best and only way!

IS it OK to exit the game from WA when abroad?
I once did an exit from China and next time I loaded the game it was completely corrupted. So now I always take the precaution of taking Sims back home before I exit.

You can definitely save and exit while on vacation. Some tombs are huge and take quite awhile to explore. Some adventure chains are quite lengthy and to expect players to finish them in one sitting is a bit unrealistic.

That's what I do. ;D I can't sit there for 7 hours, waiting for the Knowledge of the Past to finally end, and then only exit the game. I guess the coruption was caused by another thing, Beanutz.
