Fountain Quest
« on: March 28, 2011, 01:03:39 PM »
I am currently doing the Fountain Quest and am using my physician who is puny. I can't return to the forest until she has the sore debuff but I don't know how to get it for her. I've gotten it plenty of times with other heroes who were able to duel others or train with the training dummies but I can't get it for the physician. I've tried taking a stroll in the forest, playing kingball for hours, collecting for hours, jumping in the pit. I even bought a sword thinking that then she might be able to train and get sore but no luck. Does anyone have any ideas or tips on how to get this debuff. Thanks!

I haven't tried this, but what if you  had your sim pick a fight with someone?  I would think a fistfight might do it.  If you do try it, let us know if it works.  And welcome to the forum, BunnyB23!

The in-game hint is to try fiddling, and it works like a charm!  Go to the village, buy a fiddle, play a song, and almost instantly you'll get sore.  I think it lasts five hours.

I think that my doctor might have gotten sore from doing too many 'surgeries' in a row but I can't remember for sure.

Plus it's an achievement for your watcher level or whatever to have your physician fiddle 20 songs.

I'm doing this one at the moment too, and my physician is a drunkard.  She has the 'needs a drink' debuff showing, but when I click on the forest she has no option to go to the fountain.  It's odd, because the text with the quest task says something about 'guess I could have another one or two', but if she does that she won't have the 'needs a drink' debuff anymore that I thought she needed to go back to the fountain.  Has anyone done this quest with this fatal flaw and have any insight for me?

I haven't played a drunkard yet with this quest but with this flaw I see two different ways - good thing there is a save feature.

(A) You must get the "needs a drink" debuff and can enter the forest
(B) Get *DRUNK* then enter the forest

Both things would - to me - work with the way the quests went for my other characters. If (A) doesn't work for you I'd try (B).

If you whittle it gives you the sore buff also (doesn't cost anything)  :)

Thanks HtFde, it's true it's a good thing there is a save feature.  However, for the drunkard fatal flaw there are not just two options - there are quite a few levels of 'drunk'.  Anyway, I did finally figure it out through trial and error, although I think there may have been a bit of a 'stuck' effect at one point because none of the options seemed to be working to bring up the 'return to the fountain' option.  I saved and shut down, and then when I started back up again one of the options finally worked.  If anyone wants to know exactly which one, you can pm me as I wouldn't want to put up a spoiler.   ;)

In general, I can just say that how you exhibit the fatal flaw to the fountain varies quite a bit depending on the trait.

I am doing this one with a night who has the FF of bloodlust. I waited around for "looking for a fight" to come up and then went back but I thought I was supposed to then have a fight with someone. That took away my debuff. Is there any way to get it back without waiting around for another day? Thanks!

With the "looking for a fight" debuff, I'm afraid you just have to wait.
