Items For Sale in the Shoppe
« on: April 05, 2011, 03:14:49 PM »
I'm stuck. I think I need to find a broomstick. I've checked the shop, twice daily, for two days now and cannot see one for sale.  So, I'm unsure if I'm looking in the right place or not.  I noticed that Samoht had to wait to buy some Lute Strings, so I'm still hopeful that a broomstick will turn up.

What would really help, though, is a master list of items that could be bought in the Shoppe (or Market). I wondered if anyone has seen such a list, anywhere or if Carl might be including such a list in the Guide?  (Thanks.)

In the meantime try taking a stroll in the forest.  There is a random encounter where you are offered the choice to save a couple of kids from an old woman.  Twice I've gotten a witches hat and broomstick when I opted to help the children.  Sometimes, though, you'll get a debuff because she ends up being their grandmother or something like that.  I'm not sure, but this encounter may also come up when you are coming home from the Village Shoppe - perhaps someone can confirm if that's true or not.

The witch's broomstick does not work - I tried it already.
I had to look under all of the items and actually found it twice.  My hero sent her child to the market in the morning and I had the child buy it thinking I could pull it from her inventory but found out I couldn't.  So my hero made the trip to the village and another broom was available for sale.  Needless to say I grabbed it right up ;D.

Thanks for all the suggestions on acquiring the broom.  Turns out that I didn't need to buy or acquire one.  Missa (in another thread) suggesting clicking on my sim when she was in the place that required sweeping, I did so and the option was there.  :-[

So that's another lesson learned about what to do when stuck: the Shoppe inventory changes; stroll in the forest for goodies; try again the next day; click on the area around your sim AND click on the sim when in the specific location.

I guess that a master list of items for sale in the Shoppe is not really necessary.  Thanks again.

Nothing to do with a broomstick, but when your lute strings break all you have to do is click on the lute in your inventory and say restring lute.  Costs 10 simoles.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Yeah, there are some items in the village shoppe that don't show up every day, but rather every few days. Just be sure to keep checking and you'll eventually find the items!

I've had this happen several times while playing the game, where my intuition tells me I need to do x to solve the problem but really y is what's needed.  I think it's just part of the learning process when you're playing a new game.  "Think like a game developer!"   :D

Even though you can restring your lute just by clicking on it, there is a quest where you have to buy new lute strings in the village shoppe. (Not sure which one, I forget :))

@ Joria, I had to buy some Premium lute Strings as part of the Magic Show Quest where my Bard was the supporting role.
