How do you avoid unhappy customers?
« on: April 09, 2011, 12:31:37 PM »
You have a responsibility to deliver an item to a customer.  You craft or trade and acquire the item, but when you deliver it to the customer up pops a box that says the customer wasn't happy when you delivered an empty box.  This is very annoying and worse, it really messes up your level and gives you a bad buff.  I hate going from platinum to gold because of this.  Is there any way to prevent this or deal with it besides suck it up?

It seems like an odd bug, I can do two deliveries one after the other and have one work and one fail, even if I just crafted both needed items. Doesn't seem to be any way to affect it.

This has never happened to me, ever. Every time I go make a delivery to a customer, I'm always sure to have the item in my sim's inventory. This sounds like an unfortunate bug.

If it makes any difference, I ALWAYS have my hero craft the items they are supposed to deliver - I never just buy them from the village.

This happens to me as well.  It's annoying and I have no idea why it happens.

The only time this happened to me was when I accidentally put the item in the stall for the Blacksmith and then went to the person who was targetted and got the same message, are you sure you have it in your inventory? If you had to get it from trade it might still be in the Ships Cargo?

It's definitely in inventory.  I get all excited that I made an excellent quality tonic, and then oh... the customer says the box is empty.  How dumb are our sims that they carry around empty boxes and think "oh, maybe instead of giving my customer the item they requested, I'll just give them this empty box and see if they notice."  Which is why it's probably a bug -- because our sims aren't that dumb.

This has happened to me even when my Blacksmith was a level 10.  I could still see the item in his inventory which made me wonder what happened.  So I tried acting like I was going to sell it just to see if it had any value which it did ???.

Then I figured maybe it was because my Blacksmith was cursed until it happened again with my Wizard who did not have the 'Cursed' FF.    So I agree, it must be a bug.

And I was just thinking to make a post about this because yesterday I think I found a solution that I need you guys to confirm. In the first ambition it almost never really happened to me but in the second and third ambition happened lots of times with my blacksmith which made me think what's wrong with this bug and I realised that this doesn't take place if you play the game at normal speed just before delivering the item.

So when you have to deliver an item in a daily responsibility (Spy, Wizard, Physician, Blacksmith, Merchant) just before talking to the person you must deliver it to press 1 (normal speed). It worked for me all night.  :)

Hope I found the solution for this annoying bug just let me know if it works for you guys as well.

That's an interesting idea, MrGabic.  Since I usually play as fast as possible that may be the "bug" causing the problem.  I'll give it a shot and see if I can confirm for you, (and me).

I had the same problem about the empty box quite a few times and I was on a faster speed.  I'll be trying the slower speed to see what happens also.
Thanks for the tip MrGabic :)

Glad to be of help and I hope it works for you guys as well because for me now this works flawlessly not one failed responsibility. Unfortunately I get in the past time a fail from the responsibility  with the knight, the one that you are supposed to duel a challenger. I use as before knight->provoke to a duel and the responsibility just stays there. No matter how many times I duel with him/her afterwards I never get the responsibility done. Weird annoying bugs.
