China confiscated my vacation home??

I think what happened to your family is a result of massively updated story progression in the game.  With my current family, I'm finding the whole town just moves around.  The Goths no longer live in the Goth Mansion.  The Wolfe family doesn't live in their isolated beach house.  They have moved into random houses in town.  My own family members have moved out of the houses I put them in, too.  I think one is even homeless because I can't find where he lives now.  I put him and his new (and pregnant) wife into the house Christopher Steel had until he died.  They aren't there now and I don't see them anywhere on the map view.  I've invited him over a few times and then asked him to leave so I could follow him.  A couple of times he went to a vacant house and disappeared.  He never goes to a place that is his home.  It seems very bizarre, but I really think that EA has just fixed story progression so that the lives of Sims in town move along like we wanted them to from the start.

Hmmm...so is this something that automatically updated when we open launcher? I understand the developers wanting it to seem more "real" by making people move around...but from the stuff I've been reading tonight, it seems that a lot of odd things are going on. And for you to not be able to figure out where your other sim lives is just weird. Plus who moves every couple of days? 

So are you saying that sims that you've been playing will move to a different house like when you shut down the game and then come back later to play them? Or does it only happen if you aren't playing that particular family? That would kinda irritate me if I spent a bunch of time building them the perfect house only to come back later and find that they moved to somewhere else.

It's not happening to the family I'm playing.  I normally only play one family in a town anyway.  It's not happening every couple of days, either.  At least not in Sim time.  It really doesn't bother me much.  I'm glad that story progression is finally improved.  But it might explain some of the issues.
