Nectar aging and moodlets issues.
« on: March 31, 2011, 09:40:02 PM »
My sim recently lost her job due to getting stuck in Egypt and having to be saved to the bin and all that. So I thought she could take up Nectar Making as a career.
I read up about the skill, and I read that  any nectar with 3 flame fruits would give sims who drank it  a good moodlet and it would be on fire. I also read that any nectar with 1 life fruit in it would give a good moodlet, and if there were 6 it would extend the drinker's life by 1 day. So I tried varied recipes with 6 life fruits and 3 flame fruits. However,  none of the above occurred, all I got were the standard nectar moodlets.
Also, I read nectar would age by 10% per day if stored in the best rack in a basement. My nectar may or may not be aging or increase in value, it's in the best rack on the B2 floor of my apartment in Bridgeport (it's considered my room as there is no public or hidden room marker). However, all of my nectar is labelled as week 6 or 7 even though it hasn't been there that long, and the week 7 nectar was made more recently and is worth less than the week 6 nectar.

Can someone please tell me if I'm experiencing glitches, or whether I'm just confused?

First, welcome to the forum StripyWitch.  I'll start with your nectar being labeled as weeks 6 and 7.  Those are Sim weeks, so yes, week 7 was made after week 6.  You can check which week you are on by placing your cursor over the clock on the game panel.  That will tell you what week and day you are on.  The first time you start a new game it should say 'Day 1, Week 1' or 'Week 1, Day 1' as I forget the actual order.  Once you play until the next Sunday, the week will change to 'Week 2'.

I suggest you read the The Sims 3 Nectar Making Guide located here.  It will explain everything you ever wanted to know about how to make Nectar.  There are four (4) parts to this guide (Nectar Making; Quality, Value and Aging; Upgrades and Process Comparison; and Recipes and Blends) so make sure you read them all.

If you are still having problems or are confused, then I suggest you look here.  This is a link to the World Adventures Forum which should give you plenty of topics to read and which might further answer your questions.

Please note that it does take a number of Sim weeks before your nectar is aged to perfection and sells for top dollar.

Thanks for clearing up the weeks confusion. I figured it out, only nectar made after a sim has mastered nectar making will grant the special fruit moodlets and effects. While we're on the subject though, I have seen screenshots of The Necteaux stacked 3-high, can anyone tell me how I can do this?
