Did My Bridgeport Fix Itself?
« on: March 30, 2011, 07:04:02 PM »
I've posted in a few places that Bridgeport is incredibly laggy and slow on my computer.
Yesterday, though, I started a new game in Bridgeport to take a screenshot, and decided to try and play the Angelista household to see if my Bridgeport problems had been fixed somehow.
It worked fine.
What the heck happened?

I didn't see that post, but you too? My problem hasn't fixed itself. I have a big family I love playing over in Bridgeport. One day the game drug and lagged horrible. I don't play that game because of how badly it performs. Currently I'm playing in Barnacle Bay and I have no problems at all.

@Simstar:

Would you mind changing the title of this thread to be more specific with the content?  You can do this by modifying the first post.  Thanks very much.  :)

I have a similar problem with Riverview, especially when I first start a game there.  All action will stop every 10-20 minutes (real time), except for the animation on the plumbob, the "zzzzz" from sleeping, butterflies, etc.  Then, after a few sim weeks of playing that file, it simply goes away.  The only thing I can figure is that something going on somewhere in the town is dragging the game down and after a while, whatever it is that's doing it suddenly stops happening.

If you do routine maintenance on your computer it could be that.  I know sometimes after I do a registry clean up things in my game run more smoothly.

All I do is restart my computer before I start the Sims.

Simstar, have you recently cleaned your DCBackup folder? If so, that's probably how this happened.

I have had Bridgeport go laggy and weird once, but the next time I loaded it was fine, it seems to be not the most stable place, but mine is still working fine 5 gens in.

I'm glad yours is working again though.
