Sure, there's a possibility that apples or watermelon in a dish could skew the results, but it's never come close to being proven.

Wasn't that fixed in a patch? If you gorged on watermelon, then ate apple pancakes, then that would not throw the results?

So, which of you can confirm that your sim has a impect on the storyprogression of the townies?

In Late Night, if you used the "Convince..." interaction, say, for Hannah Jones to Lucky Perkins, with "Convince... Make out with... Lucky Perkins", that might have an effect.

I've never seen a Sim eat fruit except for vampires eating a Plasma Fruit.

But, if vampires (I haven't play any) don't eat apples or watermelons you can't determine with that ability to get a boy or a girl, right? Unless you force them to eat that of course, but I assume they get sick from it.

Vampires are able to eat apples and watermelon to determine gender, and they don't get sick.  It doesn't help with their thirst bar at all, but no sickness.

I'm pretty sure apple pancakes won't change gorging on watermelon.  I don't know if it was a patch, though.  If it was, it was probably long ago.

I'm pretty sure with the base game having a meal with either apples or watermelon, e.g. apple pancake, would influence the gender, but then that got fixed in a patch. However I am dredging up this info from the depths of my memory - I'll see if I can substantiate this later on but unfortunately I can't quite justify doing this now at work (as much as I'd want to  :) )

Reason is when I first got the game and started playing I jumped straight into a legacy and wanted it to be a matriarchy. So I searched online to see if you could influence the gender and at a large number of websites (official, wiki, etc) it was said that you used to be able to influence gender through cooked food but the first patch eliminated that.

Don't worry too much over it.  Whether it's because of a patch or not, we know that cooked food does not influence gender at the present time.  :)

Claire is a VERY bad mother. Her parenting is about just as good as Amber from the MTV Show Teen mom. I've seen her unborn baby end up in the "custody" of her father and uncle at least 5 times through story progression. When I checked on the Frio brothers (along with Jared's daughter living with them) the relationship with her mother was very negative. I went back to Claire, and sure enough her daughter slammed the door in her face. She developed the snob trait though.

Children and teens cannot change households unless an adult goes with them.  This is true in active households, and you can't even move a child or teen out of a house in edit town unless an adult leaves with them.  I find it a little difficult to believe that story progression would handle it any differently.

You can merge families. Like take Claire's baby and merge it into Jared's house but there has to be an adult present. I've never seen that happen however unless I did it myself.

Yes, you'd have to take both Claire and her baby out of the house, merge them both into another, and then pull Claire out.

But I fear I am dragging this thread off-topic, so I'm going to stop now.  :P

not true. both Alvi brothers, Holly Alto, Bebe Hart, and River McIrish have moved into friends houses while they were still children and teens quite a bit as well on different occasions. Sandi has been adopted by the Wolff Family twice after being neglected by Molly French.

EDIT: Teens can actually stay in the household by themselves if an adult was to move out or die.

He means you can not move them out yourself, without an adult added with them.

You can move a child into a different family if you use the testingcheatsenabled cheat and shift click the Sim and then add to active family.
I personally have never known it to happen via story progressing when you are not controlling the Sim. Also I am certain that it is not possible for a family to adopt a child that is already in the game. If the social worker takes the child then that child is gone forever and will not show up elsewhere in town.
