I'm pretty sure with the base game having a meal with either apples or watermelon, e.g. apple pancake, would influence the gender, but then that got fixed in a patch. Reason is when I first got the game and started playing I jumped straight into a legacy and wanted it to be a matriarchy. So I searched online to see if you could influence the gender and at a large number of websites (official, wiki, etc) it was said that you used to be able to influence gender through cooked food but the first patch eliminated that.
