Trading between Heroes
« on: March 26, 2011, 06:28:09 PM »
Does anyone know yet if it's possible to sell / trade / give items to other heroes?  Like I want my blacksmith ot make some great gear but beyond monetary gain there's no point in selling it to npcs.  Is there some way I havne't found yet to give or sell items to the other heroes?

She's getting to the point where she can do excellent easily and would love to make some stuff for my monarch and others.  I'm on a quest with my jacoban priest and blacksmith and I just tried to have him buy something form her market stal land that didn't work.

I was able to drag something from my inventory and drop it onto my blacksmith and he had it in his inventory the next time I played him.  It's worth a shot to see if it was a one time lucky thing or a normal occurrence.

When you open the relationship panel, you can put a marker on anyone your sim has met.  Handy for locating them to give them goodies.  I don't bother with food because anyone can make a big bowl of whatnot with cheap stuff from the market or free seeds/fish.  I did have my blacksmith give my knight some nice handcrafted items.  After quite a few runs I realized that you only had to pan on the sim to give them stuff, not run all the way over there with your giving sim like a crazy person.

Thanks for the tip!  I'll definitely do the marker thing then as I have some items I want to share and didn't really know how to.

Just drag the item from your hero's inventory into the other hero sim (it can be his/her body, or if he/she is a secondary hero, you can just drag it into his/her icon on the left).

This is absolutely essential and has made my game play much easier and more lucrative.  Whenever I have a crafting hero active I have them them make items that other heroes might need and then go find the hero and drag the item(s) from the crafter's inventory onto the other sim - works like a charm and no expenses.  The same goes for hunting and collecting sims - you can pass fish, ores, gems, meat, etc. from your active hero to any other hero this way.

The best uses of this feature I've found so far:
  • My wizard spends a lot of time collecting and passes all her ore to my blacksmith since he takes a lot of time to craft items and doesn't have as much time to collect for himself.
  • If your active hero crafts items that other heroes can use - take advantage of this while you have them active.  Blacksmith --> weapons/armor for everyone, Physician --> healing salves for heroes who hunt or fight a lot, Wizard --> potions for anyone who can use them and weapon components for blacksmith. Your active hero gets xp for all of this and the heroes who receive the items save a lot of money.
  • Any hero who randomly gets mana stones give them to my wizard.
  • Any hero with the whale ate parents trait shares the meat from whale hunting with other heroes who don't have time or ability to hunt/fish to stock their own larders.

Another cool trick is that if your current quest requires more than 1 hero to be active, you can swap items from hero to hero simply by dragging the item over the hero icon on the lower left side of the screen (where quest activities are shown).

You can really set yourself up for later success by taking the time to use your active hero's skills to prepare the rest of your heroes.  You might not complete your quest in record time, but with a little careful planning you can complete the quest at platinum level and have a bunch of well provisioned heroes at your disposal for the next quest.
