.bad & .sims3.backup files
« on: November 02, 2010, 01:12:17 PM »
I was looking through my save game folder.  I had the normal .sims3 and the .sims3.backup files but there is also files with .bad at the end.  Most are games that I have deleted from the main menu during game-play.  Does anyone know what those files mean?  Are the corrupt?  Can they safely be deleted?

I also have a lot of .sims3.backup with no .sims3 files.  Could those files also be safely deleted?

Yes, the .bad files can and should be deleted and yes they are corrupt, and it is perfectly safe to delete them.

Yes, the other files can be safely deleted as well.

It's safe to delete the .backup files, but those are the ones the game uses to restore a corrupt file, so I wouldn't really recommend deleting them unless you're completely comfortable with losing your backup copy within the game.

I was planning on keeping the backup files that are associated with a .sims3 file.

Example, I have reed.sims3 and I have a reed.sims3.backup.  I am going to keep both of those.  But the I have a TheCannonsA.sims3.backup but there is no associated .sims3 file.  So I would delete that one.  Or should I keep that one and convert it?  Just delete the .backup part of the file name and it will be a regular game.  Is that correct?

Yes. If you rename the .sims3.backup file, it will convert to a playable game.

.bad are, well... bad.

Sorry for ressurecting a dead thread.
