Finding gravestones
« on: September 27, 2012, 09:02:24 PM »
Is there an easy way to find the gravestone of a non-family sim who died inside my home? I searched my property, sim inventories, and the graveyard, but cannot seem to find it.

If it was inside the house, it's not going to be a gravestone but a little metal box that is used for ashes.  It won't be very tall but it will be rectangle and most likely gray in color if it's an every day townie.  If it was someone you had played at one time, their grave may be bigger normally so it would closer to an urn.

Does it take time to appear? I searched around my home and garden, but all I found was a few overlooked moneytree seeds. I even tried moving all the bushes around to see if it was hidden under them.  ???

No.  It appeared right as their ghost would have appeared.  Where did the person die in your house?

They died on the third floor of my home during a party, the guy in the red shirt. The last time a friend died on my property, it was around the same spot, and the marker object appeared in my garden on the ground. I figured it might appear there again for this second death, but I searched the garden and could not find the new one. I like old friends hanging around the place after they become a ghost, so I want their grave marker to be on my property.

Is there some way I can order a sim to mourn so they'll go to the grave, finding it for me?

I once had two successive repairmen die on my lot, and the first left a grave urn, but there was no sign of the second one...

Try going to the cemetery and clicking on the Mausoleum, then click Manage the Dead.

Thanks! I will try that.

A second sim died on my lot, and this time the box appeared! I now see what was supposed to happen... the sim "jumps" into the box. The place the 1st ghost jumped had no box. Thankfully it worked correctly with Matthew, since I really like having him around, and would miss not having his ghost.

A few things come to mind:
  • The two deaths during large parties (20+ sims) bugged out, while other deaths have worked okay.
  • The sims were having trouble pathing around during the party... frequently getting stuck, then teleporting to different floors of the home.
  • When the sim died during the party, the "sim has passed on" notice did not appear at the moment of death like normal. The notice appeared a day later.

I suspect large parties cause the problem.

I suspect you are right about the large parties. In my game they sometimes create lag too. I guess they can be a bit much for the computer to handle, and it has to work to keep up, hence the later death notice.
