ati2dvag stop error Windows XP
« on: December 07, 2009, 11:27:13 PM »
I know this is odd but every time I try to create a sim, the above error occurs.  First, the screen freezes, then the screen distorts. I have to reboot at that point. Apparently, this is/was a pretty common error for people playing PC games, including Sims 3.  It turns out it is a display driver error that I am sure has to do with my computer.  I would like to ask if anyone knows of any way I can fix this problem myself without the use of a technician?  I am so mad, I just want to play my game...

I'm afraid this is way over my head, but Carl may have some suggestions.  I sent him a note asking him to look at your post.  He should give you a response soon.

I've had issues related to one driver version not working and needing a better one for my card. I ended up at nvidia.com and found my graphics card model, reinstalled my drivers and it worked fine. If it just started happening that might be another problem entirely, but you can try looking up your ati card (on their official support site) and see if that helps.

Thank you both!  I will start trying to fix it.
