Heads up for those supermaxing fishing
« on: December 23, 2010, 11:21:30 AM »
I discovered that Trilobyte and sea sludge do not count towards your twenty fish you need to complete one of the challenges. It is possible that the other fish that came with late night may not count either. They did count as part of the private aquarium LTW however which makes no sense.

Any idea on how to make the sim "discover" the bait for those fishes?

To catch sea sludge use links and for trilobyte use minnow.

Yeah, I tried to use the sea sludge for the Perfect Private Aquarium LTW and it wouldn't work. So, I'm just assuming that it absolutely has to be FISH and not sea (lake/pond) creatures.

It appears that kattiq and ratchie have had different experiences with using the new fish to complete the Private Aquarium LTW.  Have other people tried this?

I know for sure the sea sludge did not work for that LTW.  I'm not sure about the Trilobyte.

I definitely used sea sludge and trilobyte when completing the private aquarium wish. Which is why I was so surprised when they didn't count for the catch twenty fish part of the challenge.
My sea sludge was called Tiffany  ;D

That's weird that I couldn't. Unless it was a bug in mine (or yours?). I am pretty sure I had to actually go and find another type of fish because I had a sea sludge. We need someone else's opinion! :P

My sim completed the first fishing challenge (the one about fishing every fish type available) knowing only about 54% of the fish types. I found it too weird to be normal so I assumed it was a bug... unless the fish added by the expansion packs do not count for it, but they are still not 46% of the total fish types in the game that my sim didn't know. I am pretty sure that she hadn't caught any expansion pack fish though.

Simply by catching one while using the correct bait.  I don't usually waste time reading those books, I just run around with a bunch of produce.  :P
