Still busy with my own Supersim challenge I have played through 10 generations already without having one having the No Bills Ever thing.

So how much are your bills, Leto?  The No Bills LTR is always one of the first ones I take, just because I hate throwing away money.  Even the small amount of money involved when my Sims are poor and hardly own anything.  I can't imagine the size of the bills with a rich family you've been playing for a while.

Like everyone said, that have dynasties, after you hit generation 6 - 8, the properties are a big money maker.  My original founder in my Colour dynasty is a gardner and now he has over 70 money trees.  He is the only one that I gave, hardly hungry, steel bladder and dirt defiant, because it takes him two days to harvest those trees, which if I can do it twice a week, brings in well over $200,000 or more a week.  The first and second heir, one is master thief and the other one is five star chef, are still in those original professions and between the two, make almost 3,000 simoleons a day. So between money trees, sculpting and those two jobs and properties, they have a total right now of almost 3 million simoleons and the 8th heir is only a toddler.  :)
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

I did a test before, and found that having A writer/sculptor, Gardner/nectar maker and Painter/inventor will bring in more than enough money to ensure your 5th and so forth generation live comfortably. The only reason I have the writer and gardener is that with Nectar and Paintings, the longer you let them sit, the more they appreciate in value and the more you make further down the road. Plus having those two combinations is good anyways because they compliment each other.

Smart decisions Bmwsauber.

I also thought you could sell your own written books at the conseignment store to make even more money (buy it cheap, sell it high), but I'm not sure if that is true.

Yes, you can. You can make a crazy profit also by buying the cheap, or expensive paintings at the consignment store, waiting for the artist to die, having the suave seller LTR and consigning them. I can't remember the exact math cause it's been awhile, but I bought a painting for like $5-10 and with the suave seller reward, after the painter died sold it for at least $900. And if you play in Sunset Valley, and get a Cornelia Goth or Agnes Crumplebottom painting, put them on walls so they appreciate, by the time they die you can make some mega money on them.

But Ester: I thought that increasing money on a painting of a died sim was nothing but a rumor.

Oh wait! I've forgotten about this: Once you have a lot of nectar in the house worth over $1000,- each, you can sell that at the conseignment store. I've got over $1000.000 back at once maximum.

I used to take that LTR, but once I realised how easy it was to make money in Sims 3 (especially with the Ambitions expansion), I stopped using it because I needed something to throw away my money at.  :P In the current dynasty I'm playing, I'm only at the third generation at the moment, with bills ranging around $7000+ (so $14k per week) but selling two large masterpiece paintings easily negates that, not to mention the other sources of income such as owned properties and Money Trees.

The children are basically spoilt brats at this point, because daddy and mommy have bought everything they could possibly want, that can be bought with money. It does sometimes give me food for thought when the teenagers blaze back home in their sport cars from school, but other then buying stuff worth $100k and then deleting them (not sell), I am at a loss sometimes on how to spend the money. I can't even donate it. They really should remove the cap on donations.

What I'm doing now is basically turning my house into a "Make a LTW" foundation. Whenever I encounter a NPC Sim that interests me, be it be the Maid, the Policewoman, the Pizza Girl, the Paper Girl(when she grows up), or heck, even the Party Dancers. I get my family Sims to invite them to move into the household and see what their random LTW is. I then pour my resources into making that LTW come true for them, before buying a sparkling brand new house for them to move out into.

(And a car that I feel best fits their personality (they will actually use it instead of the standard boring Lemons), plus a Death Flower, and a Flame Fruit, and whatever certificates/trophies they may have earned)

It's the only way I have found to utilise the absurd amounts of money my Sims are making.

Cheers.

Like Esther said if you buy a painting and then the artist dies the price skyrockets! I think I had a painting worth 100 or so simoleons and it went up to 1,000! If I wait longer I'm pretty sure it will go up even more.

One of the big money makers in my dynasty right now is all the sculptures. If you stick with one type of sculpture and keep remaking it over and over your sim eventually becomes really good at it and the prices go up. I stick with topiary because its fast and easy to make!

And I also agree with everyone else who said that the properties rake in a nice profit as well once you have several of them owned and upgraded. :)

Wow Leto I did not think of selling my nectar in the store :o I normally sell it straight from my sims inventory (after it has aged for a while in the nectar racks) Will have to try that next time I play ;D

For your principle amount painting and scultping are good, or marrying a rich sim. Thereafter: supernovium and compendium. Five types of cheap metal ingots yeild supernovium worth around $7500 - $8500 each. Compendium (4 types of metal ingots) is generally 25% more valuable than the metals used to create it, so you can evolve better and better compendium. To give you an idea, after hunting for a week, buying metals from the consignment store, and just 2 collections around town, my first round of transfigurations yeilded a compendium ingot worth nearly $215,000. Next: skull cuts :D
