Townies moving

So I have a question I'm not 100% clear on

Everyday my current Lineage reads the paper, townies are moving out, and city council encourages beautifying your properties to make people move back to town. I've beautified said property, and have had maybe 3 families move in.

How do I get more people to move back? Or is that just not possible?

I don't really think it matters if you do or don't beautify your property (but I could be wrong) I think it is just part of story progression... people come and go all the time.

Most of the families that leave the neighborhood, in my experience, are families that have the least connections around town, or reached some sort of dead end. Do not worry about it, though, as the game replaces every "gone" household with a new one; They may not appear in Town View, because they don't own a place there, but they will show up in parks or if you invite them (just like maids and other npcs).

Story progression keeps the town fairly balanced.  Random families leave and new ones come to replace them.  There's really nothing you can do to control it.  They may also not appear in Town View because your Sim doesn't know the new ones yet.  The newspaper is the best way to keep track of everyone, which is what your Sim is already doing.

I beg to differ.  I can't really prove anything, but in one game, (it's pretty much all remodeling in that game), I've started moving lots, adding buildings and remodeling many others.  I also delete all vampires as I find them.  The result of the beautification program is most of MY houses are now populated by new townies and some old ones have moved from their old houses to mine.  I really had not intended this.  My intent was to totally remodel the town, Sunset Valley, and move in Sims I and my kid make.  So far I have only one of my Sims in the town!  I don't even play the Sim, just use him as a jumping off point for my remodels, (yes, I know I don't need to do that, but I do intend to play him one day).  I have to admit it really feels good to see my houses getting filled while the empty houses made by the game, and not yet renovated, remain empty.  So, beautification DOES seem to help.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!
