Simmers who hate OneDrive...
« on: November 25, 2024, 10:14:48 AM »
have never had their butts saved by its sneakiness.

My old computer died in early October, so I got a new one, but before that happened, various saves were becoming unplayable, whether that be because they were literally unusable, or for story reasons.

One save that was unplayable for story reasons was a save in which a half-alien teen, his mother (a full alien), and his Imaginary Friend had moved from Twinbrook to a custom version of Strangetown when he and his Imaginary Friend were children. It was unplayable because I tried to have them visit the half-alien's extended family (father, stepmother and half-brother, all human) in Twinbrook but when he got there they "weren't home," except for the dog.

This pained me quite a bit and I was wishing I hadn't deleted the save they were originally from...

...which is where the death of my old computer, and the sneaky backup habits of OneDrive, swooped in to save the day.

I started up TS3 on my new computer for the first time today and found that, although my more current saves weren't there (they're on another drive, which is fine, I can get them back real quick), the ancient ones were, including the save the alien had originally been on, and some others that eventually went sour or were otherwise abandoned.

So now I can potentially save the alien storyline using files from the "epilogue" save I just created!

YAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSS!!!!!
