I made the same mistake. Is there no chance of getting the saved game back?  :'(

If you don't have any save files that look like: Sunset Valley.sims3.backup in the saves folder.

Click image to see larger view -

C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves

Then you might look on OneDrive to see if they were moved there by your computer.  It's suggested to disable or turn this off, so it doesn't happen again. Sims 3 cannot see any saved-games outside it's own folder. \C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

Turn off, disable, or uninstall OneDrive
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/turn-off-disable-or-uninstall-onedrive-f32a17ce-3336-40fe-9c38-6efb09f944b0

You may want to do this even if you've started a new save. This way the computer doesn't try to move your Sims 3 files again.

If that doesn't help, you might search for a file recovery tool to see if it might help scan your drive for any recently deleted saves.

If there is a save called Sunset Valley.sims3.backup. Remove the .backup from the file name and it should show up in the Sims 3 main menu.

It's okay to override the one that is there already. Specially if it's been corrupted. :)

You may have too many save files in your saves folder:
(C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves)

If this is the case, you can move most of the files out to a folder that you make on your desktop.  Leave one or two save files in the Saves folder to help test.

Try loading the game again to see if you're able to see your save files.

A save file looks like this - by default:

Inside the save file looks like this - by default:

What the Save File looks like in the Saves Menu:

  ----

If you are not finding any save files in your Saves folder:
(C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves)

And you've checked OneDrive, disabled or uninstalled it and tried a recovery files tool, you might try searching your computer for the save files.

If that's not helping, you might try asking about it over at answers.ea -

Sims 3 Technical Help Board.

To see if they have any ideas of how to find your save files.

I wanted to add this, just in case anyone is more looking for Sims 4 save files. --

Sims 4 is having the same issue and information about it's save files can be found in the link below.
