Crash to desktop without crash log (Fixed!!)

I've got a Sims 3 save that consistently crashes to desktop without producing a crash log. It appears to be tied to game time passing, as it happens more quickly in fast-forward and not at all when paused. I've tried various things, including lowering graphics settings, being in online or offline mode, clearing out cache files, and installing various stability tools, but nothing has changed it for better or worse. DxDiag.txt shows entries for TS3W.exe, so I assume this is some graphics thing that's failing to happen, but I don't know how to interpret the file and figure out what, precisely, is going wrong. I can't make heads or tails of your DxDiag report either, other than maybe update your graphics drivers.

I did search on the issue and did find a suggestion of limiting the FPS on the game. The post linked below is mostly for Sims 4, however I did add an example of limiting FPS using Sims 3 closer to the bottom of the post.

Ultimately, I moved the family out, and they were able to reach the border before the implosion. No issues in the new town yet, knock on particle board!
