New Patch Today has Rendered my Game Unplayable

I am SO angry! I just opened my Sims launcher and got the message that an important update was available for my game so like a dummy, I clicked "yes" to download the update. So now I get this message:



Shoot, I was hoping to play tonight but it looks like I'll be spending my time now trying to fix the game now that it's apparently messed up.  :-\

Well fortunately, I was able to fix it without spending too much time. I noticed that what it tried to do was to update me to the 2.3.33 version when I was at the 1.7.9 version.....which according to my game, was the latest update. But apparently, there is a version 1.8.25 that's supposed to be installed BEFORE the 2.3.33 one. Why doesn't EA detect your game's settings and versions before it tries to update you with the wrong version?

I've got the game up now and as soon as my current sim's game loaded, her hair is now short and brown instead of long and red! Ugh!  I went into CAS to see if I could change it back and most of my custom hairs are gone now since the patch. I guess I'm going to have to go find them again and re-download. Shoot...what a pain! I wonder what else I'm going to discover is gone? I hope all my custom content hasn't been deleted.

Ugh. Hate to hear all these troubles. Never do we get to fully celebrate a new patch... there's always some lingering problem. Wish you luck

I didn't have any characters really worth keeping, so I just wiped everything and reinstalled. I think that's the ideal situation, but obviously not very many players are in the same boat. I am keeping very close tabs on my new walkthrough couple though, so I'll be reporting in with any goofiness.

So far, I've noticed that not ALL of my custom content is gone...it seems kinda random what IS missing. Some of her custom clothes are gone and some of her accessories are gone. (like her nail polish which I really liked!  >:(  )

I'll let you know if I find anything else weird with the new patch.

And it is saying that I now have version 2.3.33.....so it looks like it installed the 1.8.25 in between my last update and this one.

I'm afraid this is the kind of problem I'm talking about with installing custom content from third party downloads.  As the Sims 3 evolves, the custom downloads don't always work or they mess up the game in other ways.  I have to advise caution when using anything from a third party download.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your game RockinRobin   :(  ...from what I have read over on the EA forum you are not alone.  :-\  Seems a lot of people are having trouble with missing 3rd party CC items, even some are reporting EA items missing.  :o  Although EA will address their own item(s) issues (albeit slowly), but not 3rd party CC content (even though they condone it) they do not support it.  This is one of the major reasons I run a vanilla game and won't put 3rd party CC into my game.  The game is unstable and barely runs with EA's own content.  :(  I did run across this thread on the EA technical board which has some good info about making sure you have removed all 3rd party CC content, before updating your game.  Hope you can resolve all your issues.   :P

Fortunately I'm having no problems after downloading the update/patch.  I was very cautious (nice word for being scared poopless) and it took some time of investigating other posts here and on sims 3 site.  But I decided to take the chance and I'm glad I did.  The first thing I saw was a prompt on the empty square in the main menu where my lil Brooke and family used to be wanting to know if I wanted to reinstate the family.  :o  After clicking yes there was my family, totally intact.  ;D  ;D

I'm sorry others are having such a difficult time and I know how I'd feel if my game was unplayable.  But the only thing I can think of saying to EA is, thank you!

Hi Cory and welcome to our Forum!

I appreciate that you want to help your fellow members, but at this time, I'm not going to allow a link to a third party custom content site.  We're not keen on third party custom content here because of the problems it causes (as described in this thread).  Carl is out of town at the moment and if he decides to override my decision, we'll put up the link when he returns.
