Befriending Someone else's dog question
« on: January 06, 2018, 10:53:09 AM »
I only just purchased Cats & Dogs, and so far become very good friends with the first dog i met, (Blue he's a premade I believe), My relationship is nearly full with him, yet I just looked at his owners household, and their relationships to him is no way near as strong as mine.

I just keep inviting him over as if he was my dog, but its not quite the same as officially living with me full time.

so question, is there a way I can adopt that dog?

Or can the owners put it up for adoption directly to me?

(And please no cheats to do so...)

I don't think there is a way in-game. Of course you could always move him in through household management which isn't a tech cheat but could be considered a cheat if you are playing a challenge.

It might have just been a temporary glitch in my game, but my sims once ran into one of the Cat Lady's cats at the dock and it was labelled as a "Stray."
At the time, I briefly wondered if I could befriend and adopt it, then started worrying about my sims' own pets running away.
Later, I saw the cat again and it wasn't marked as "Stray." Oh well.

Not directly related to Spiderkeys' question but I thought I'd share.

I'll feel kindof bad just "stealing" the dog from manage households from the Delgato family, so what I think I do is just become friends with a member of the family there, and I could or they could/ ask if I can Move In.

Besides the sim is single, Young Adult, and still living with his parents so why not... :)

Aww, you're so kind to your sims.  :) This is probably what I'd have done: steal Blue through household management... feel bad for the family who would now be missing their dog so "have" to kill them so they don't miss Blue. Feel bad for Blue who misses her family... delete the save and start again vowing to be a 'better simmer'.  :P

I know, I had the same dog around my house. But I haven't figured it out. No idea if I can adopt him.
