Updated to Windows 10 TS4 lag unplayable
« on: October 14, 2021, 10:01:42 PM »
I just updated from Windows 7 to Windows 10. My game ran just fine on Win7. It does not on Win10. I have no idea what to do. I cannot play the game, it is just that laggy. Wish I would have stayed on Win7. I have heard complaints from youtubers about lag with Win10. However, I find nothing online as far as help to fix. Any tips and tricks would be appreciated. Thanks.

You haven't mentioned what you've tried to troubleshoot, so please forgive the repeated tips.

✽ Try playing the game in "Offline" mode
-- In Origin, go to the Origin Menu and select Go Offline.

Note: It may work better if you disconnect your computer from the internet, just for temporary - to test.

 ✽ Turn off Origin In-Game:
Open Origin, Select Origin > Application Settings > Origin In Game tab and click the on/off switch to disable Origin In Game. - This deactivates Origin In-Game, as it has been known to cause problems with games.

 ✽ Repair Game:
In Origin > Games Library, right-click on Sims 4 and select Repair. - Do note this repairs the game's install files for the actual game. It does not make any changes to the saved game files. Meaning that your saved games are safe, they won't be deleted. If you'd like you can copy the Sims 4 folder to a USB key, for safe keeping.

✽ Try running Origin As Administrator - Right-click on the Origin icon on the desktop and select Run as Administrator.

✽ Disable Game DVR and Game Bar. These are known to cause issues with some games.

I did 2 things to my game since this post.
 1. I disabled the Game Bar. I did not find the Game DVR. Afterwards, I noticed less lag.

2. I purged two mods. One was a mod I could do without. Another, was a mod the creator says may cause lag under some conditions.

Overall, after playing for an hour with an 8 sim household on a 64X64 lot with a mansion, it is playable.

Thank you so much for your help.

I am passing this post on to some friends who have also updated to Win10 and notice unpleasant changes to their games. (not TS4 players)
