Freezing And Other Issues Since Update.
« on: January 21, 2017, 12:38:00 AM »
I've been having some issues since the toddler update, the return of a couple of old bugs, a new graphics glitch and some freezing, down below is a list of what I've been experiencing these last few days.

Game freezing, I just assumed it happened because I played my last game in San Myshuno and I do get freezing and lag there occasionally. But I just started a new game and something happened that freaked me out. I was at the main menu screen and it froze and my laptop made a loud buzzing noise. Trying to shut the game down didn't work and I was forced to turn off my laptop.  :(

In a recent game I created, I got the loading screen music on a neverending loop bug, nothing I tried would make it go away, except uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

In the neighbourhood screen, there is an empty lot where my Sims house should be, it doesn't show up until I start playing.

Sometimes in CAS, I see a black silhouette where my Sim should be, also if I try to exit the game in CAS, the background goes black, before I exit.

Lately my laptop has been overheating a bit while playing and even my laptop cooler isn't doing much.  :(

I think some of these issues may be caused by an outdated graphics card or drivers? I don't think I've updated my drivers since buying this laptop two years ago, because I am scared I will accidently download the wrong version or something and make things worse.  ???

I wanted to ask here to see if my suspicions are correct and get some advice on how to, correctly, go about fixing these issues.

There are some gameplay bugs that Play maybe able to help with.

As for the technical problems - The buzzing sound isn't normal. You may need to get it looked at to make sure you haven't fried the video card, motherboard or other component of the laptop.

It would be good to update the video drivers. It's not possible to upgrade video cards.

In the link below, it gives tips on how to update drivers.

The music in a never ending loop is a known bug. Generally saving and restarting the game solves it, annoying to do but at least it stops the music overlay.
And I also get the invisible house/lot until I load it to visit etc. I'm not sure why that happens but it isn't game breaking, just annoying as usually the lot functions as expected once loaded.

The game isn't perfect and despite the general claim to fame that it is stable and runs well, I have to say there are quite an extraordinary amount of bugs and glitches throughout the game. Most aren't game breaking but you really do need to have a computer that is well above the recommended specs if you want the game to be playable with extra packs etc.

My laptop was only overheating a little more than usual anyway, I updated my video drivers as they were out of date and that fixed most of the problems, no more lag, freezing or overheating. I'm no longer getting shadow Sims in CAS, pretty sure at least half of those problems were caused by outdated drivers. I had suspected as much but wanted to confirm. :)

The bugs are only minor, I just wondered if the Toddler update had anything to do with their return, not that it matters as both have gone away now.  :)

My game is running a lot smoother now, thanks guys.  :)

Awesome! Yeah, the toddler patch reintroduced quite a few of the older bugs and quite a few new ones! Great you've got rid of the lag as I always think that really ruins the whole gaming experience having to suffer through lagginess.
