Castastic: I agree with your opinion. And therefore I believe that pallyndrome should make a list with left 'computer' and right 'laptop' and than typing all the benefits one has compared to the other. Than she could compare what will suite her best.
Oh well, I can help her a little on the way though.

Seeing this list I could understand that people are easly choosing for a laptop instead of a desktop. But when you do, please consider the upgrade capability of the computer compared to the faster outdated laptop, which goes actually hand in hand with if hardware can be upgraded or not.

Alien Ware also helps. It is perfect for the sims 3 and almost every other game out there! . I have Alien ware for almost 2 years now and my sims 3 game hasn't crashed yet! .

It is also a computer you could download for The Sims 2 in 'the old days'.

But playing TS3 on a Alien Ware from two years ago is pretty sweet. My laptop from 2008 is also capable to run it, but with complex houses, and especially mensions, the thing get slower and slower.
