Household Too Big For Babies
« on: January 04, 2011, 07:30:15 AM »
My immortal is quite bored with life and frankly has nothing to do (since he cannot learn new skills) so I thought could let him sow a few seeds around town. However, when I invited women over and tried to 'try for baby' with them, it always says that (her name)'s household is too big for her to get pregnant. It happened with 3 different women! I don't think they all live with 7 other people so I don't understand why it keeps coming up. Anyone has the problem?  ???

I have only had this happen once and I went to the sims household, there was 7 other sims there.  So it could be possible, but three in a row, that is a little much.  You never know about this game. :)

Another Sim in that household may be pregnant? That might cause you not being able to have a 'Try for Baby' with them?

When I load up the game again I will follow the women and look at where they live I suppose. What if they are townies? Are townies able to get pregnant? (since they always wonder around alone)

Sure they get pregnant.  Thomas is probably right, someone else in the household might  be pregnant.  You see townies all of the time walking around town pregnant.  I think it is kinda neat. :)

I changed to town view but couldn't find any of the women in households that I knew, so they should be townies. Oh well, maybe the game just thinks that Sunset Valley has had enough of the Sweet men ):

If the sim in question is a "homeless" sim, meaning they don't actually live in a house, it will give the "too big" message.  Generally this is with NPCs or townies.

I was going to say exactly what Tjsmetana said.  If the lady in question is an NPC or if she doesn't live in a house then you will get the "house is full" message.

Just to clarify, we consider "townies" to be the families that live in town, like the Goths and Altos at the start of the game.  NPCs are considered to be Sims like firefighters, maids, repo man, repair man, etc.  Townies can get pregnant just fine unless their house is full.  NPCs probably don't.

What about those who just wonder around in town but do not stay anywhere, like Sunny Bakshi or Anne Song? What are they called?

I think Sunny Bakshi and Anne Song are more like townies.

Maybe this problem appears because the game will let the babies grow up in the mothers household, because she is the one who got eventually pregnant and don't live with your sim. I have never tried this myself though.

RJ- They are Towies according to Sims Wiki, because they don't offer a "service", like a maid or a butler, but they are a special "class" of townie.

That actually sounds really logical.

Yeah, I think it's a good explanation.
