How do you bring a hero into a new Kingdom?
« on: April 19, 2011, 10:58:02 AM »
I have read on this forum about people beating the first Kingdom Ambition, New Beginnings, and then bringing one of their hero's over to the next ambition (like No Quest for the Weary) as the Monarch.  How do you do that?  When I selected NQFTWeary I had to create a new Monarch...did I just miss something?  I don't really mind starting over with level 1 hero's but I would like to know.  And, if you bring a hero over as a Monarch, does he/she come with their current level?

edit- I see from a post that the level the hero is at does carry over.  But I still don't know how to bring it over...

Chadgar, when you finish an ambition (use up all your quest points), you will have two choices - you can choose Free Time, which allows you to just play with your characters without a quest going on.  The other option (sorry, the name escapes me for the moment) allows you to choose one of the characters to venture forth and create a new kingdom.  The character has to assemble a team and purchase a castle kit from the village shop, then they sail off into the sunset.  The next ambition you start will show your carry-over character as one of the options for the new monarch.  And yes, if your character was at level 10 in their previous career, he/she will be level 10 as a monarch, regardless of what their previous career was.

Wow!  Great answer.  Thank you so much.  I would recommend Carl to add a section to this guide with the 2 options you have after beating the Ambition.  Free Time and Brave New World.
To be honest, once I beat an Ambition, I don't open that kingdom up again, I thought...well what would be the point in that?
Now...let's say you had all your heros at level 10...could each of those heros go forth into a brave new world?  So basically...could the next kingdom you start have lists of all the heros from the same original kingdom?

Brave New World - yes, that's the name I couldn't remember.  Thank you!

I've never tried going back to an Ambition I've completed, so I don't know if it's possible to do the Brave New World more than once in a particular game.  My guess would be not, but someone would need to try and see.

Somewhere here there is a thread in which one of the members shared lengthy and detailed instructions for a way to move all your leveled-up heroes to a new kingdom.  For me, I don't really see the point as I think it would take the challenge and the fun out of the game.  I like to save my characters to the bin when I make them so I can resurrect them for the new Ambition.  I'm rather fond of physician Hippocrates and spy James, but of course this way they're starting from scratch in their career - it's just the appearance that's the same.

I read the thread you are talking about and agree with you and most of the other people here, that seems to take the fun out of it.  thanks again

This is an old thread but I've recently started playing Sims Medieval again and had my Bard do the Brave New World quest after the loss of his beloved wife, Empress Rhiannon. The bard is now the Monarch of his own Kingdom but upon going back to the original kingdom, the Brave New World Quest isn't available. I tried pulling up the cheat window and using 'reroll quests' and though that gives me quests that have been completed previously, Brave New World hasn't shown up yet. I'm thinking that since it's a 0qp quest that it probably won't regenerate after it's been played once.

On a side note, the current Empress was the daughter of the former queen and when she took the throne her father then moved back to the Tavern with her two brothers.
Yet even though she is now the Monarch, when I click the go home arrow, she goes to the Tavern not the Castle!!!

It's a bit annoying having to click on the castle directly for her to return there, but I was happy to see that both her father and brothers show up in her family relationship panel.
And her brothers still wander about the kingdom.
But with her father leaving that kingdom, I was hoping one of her brothers would succeed him as bard, but since they were born to the bard after he married the monarch, they are both princes and apparently ineligible to inherit their father's position.

On another side note, if you do want heirs for both heroes that you want to marry to each other, have them have a child before the marriage which will live with the mother and be her heir.
Once the two heroes marry, choose the father's dwelling and then the next child will be his heir.
I did that with my physician, Claire, and wizard, Myrik.
Their first son is Lil' Bloodletter, Cyrik, who was born prior to their marriage.
Their 2nd son is Lil' Spellcaster, Dyrik, who was conceived after the wedding.
