[BUG] Dogs are not sleeping at night
« on: June 26, 2019, 12:08:49 PM »
Hey guys,

In two different saves, I have experienced that my Sim's dogs won't go to sleep at night. Instead, the stand with their back paws on the pet bed and the front paws on the floor. They collapse a couple of times from exhaustion, then get up into the same position. So far, the issue has been occurring on Sulani only.

Could any of you possibly try and test if it happens/will happen in a game of yours?

Thanks in advance for input :)

I'm not near my pc at the moment but I'll test for you in the morning if no one else has by then.  :)

Opps sorry forgot to come back and post results, seems a definite bug. But the only bug report I could find was yours so I didn't think you'd appreciate me linking you to it ;)

I've added a 'me too' click.

You never know. I am getting older by the minute ;D
Thanks, though. As my videos reflect, I have more than one issue with dogs on Sulani ::)

By the way, this is how the dogs are "stuck" for an entire night in my games:

Honestly at this point I just have to laugh at this 'dog's not sleeping bug'.  Between that and toddler high chair issues it's enough to drive me demented.

@Playalot Couldn't agree more. I've found a way to somewhat alleviate the stress, though - grab your main Sim and leave the home lot for some days, have the Sim sleep and eat elsewhere. Then come back with renewed strength. It may seem controversial to walk out on one's family like that, but I find that preserving my sanity (if there ever was any) takes priority ;)

I have moved my Sim family into a different lot and the dog still gets stuck like that. There is another assumed bug; I can't teach the dog not to drink from the toilet. It has been lectured, I think, fifteen times now. All that happens is that a question marks appears in its thought bubble, and sometimes it cowers as well. But learning? Nuh-uh. I have resolved to locking the bathroom doors. The locking feature, however, also seems less than reliable these day. *Shrugs*

@Nindigo Have you tried asking the dog to lie down? Can they sleep on the Sims beds or couches or is it just the pet bed that's causing the issue? It seems like either your dog(s) or pet bed is glitched.

@Rainbow Dash The pets all act the same, so it's probably just the bed. If I ask the dog to lie down on it, it sometimes will and at other times won't. During the day, it may sleep on it fine. The issue only happens at night. The pets can rest on furniture no problem.

For me, it happens the most when the dog has the 'loyal' trait - and thus wants to stay close to a sim and avoids sleeping in (otherwise) empty rooms. Which then becomes an issue if the bedroom is too small for a pet bed and thus the pet bed is in another room - or if the pet bed is already occupied by another pet. I had it a few times - the faster dog went to sleep just fine and the other just stood there instead of using a pet bed in the living room (where no one is).
