A New Legacy... Please Help!
« on: December 30, 2010, 02:15:10 PM »
Hello  people! I've recently decided to start my first ever serious legacy family! I need you to advise me in the name of the family and it's founder's name, wheter the sim is going to be a guy or a girl and other miscellaneous things, such as where to start the family (in Twinbrook or SV?), on which lot (probably one with the 'Beautiful Vista' moodlet, but I don't know which!) and after how many generations to quit? Thank you for help! I'm really undecided and need you to help me to decide! Please help  :) Thanks

Well I started with a Dude and set up a theme to last throughout my Legacy. His name was Mikey Character, it was supposed to be Mickey after the mouse but I mistyped the C and I never changed it. The theme was cartoon characters from TV shows. I am currently at Generation 6 and 7 is in sight. I started in SV since I knew it well and started with Agnes Crumplebottom for her cash and she even gave me some good lookers.  :D

Ummm...that's really up to you and what you prefer playing.

My ideal family would be 60x60 in Bridgeport, but I can't find a place to stick that lot. I prefer a female founder because if I don't find a suitable marriageable mate, he can still father a kid. I pick whichever name appeals to me at that time. And I quit when I've reached whatever goal I set for myself.

I think the legacy rules specify which lot you are supposed to buy, and a legacy is supposed to run to 10 generations if you complete the whole thing.  Personally, I prefer a male founder because his career isn't interrupted by pregnancy, but it's up to your preferred playing style.  I find that themes make it easier to pick names.  I guess the best advice is to keep the rules handy (bookmarked?) if you plan on playing by the rules, and otherwise, don't stress too much about it and just go with what's fun to you.  It's a game, after all!

Thanks everyone for responses, but which legacy to choose? Please help and please show a link to the legacy rules if it is possible. I know there are lots of legacies out there, but which is, in your opinion, the most interesting. Thanks very much.

Oh no! I was just reading about legacies and I found out that all traits have to be random! I'm so undecided... This may cause me not to get into a legacy and just make a normal family that will have many generations but with no rules. Please help me to understand which is the best solution... thanks  :-\

Not all traits have to be random. You can choose to do a inherited trait legacy where every generation inherits the lucky trait for instance.
If you want why not just make your own rules up so long as you enjoy playing that is all that matters.

Thank you @ratchie for helping me out! I decided to make a sim with Ambitious trait, her name is Shine Hicks and she is a rocker. She wants to be a rock star and her traits are Ambitious, Virtuoso, Technophobe, Flirty and Hopeless Romantic. She is very light and her favorite food is autumn salad, fav music is pop and fav color is black. I hope she'll once find her one true love :) We'll see  ;) I'll post pics later. By the way, she settles in the 15 Summer Court Hill but has only about 1000 $ in cash, so I follow the schmoosing around the town system!  ;D

Have you heard about the Forum's Dynasty challange? Basically, you have to complete a set of requirments for your Sim befor they can become immortal, with Ambrosia, and live forever. You can choose all traits and they're a great read! :D

@Jowkoul:

We have a thread on our Forum that has a lot of information about legacies, including a link to Pinstar's legacy rules on the first page.  Click here.  Also, as Ruby mentioned, we have our own Immortal Dynasty challenge penned by Metropolis Man.  Click here for the Immortal Dynasty Challenge.  It's really your own personal choice whether you strictly follow the Dynasty rules or even the legacy rules written by Pinstar.  However, if you complete the Immortal Dynasty Challenge without breaking any of the rules, you can be included in our Hall of Fame.  :)

Thanks you two! Especially Pam, because I really appreciate your work as forum's founder and I can see that you're helping practically everyone on every thread on the forum! Thanks very much for showing me a link to the legacy and the Immortal Dynasty Challenge. I was first playing the legacy rules, but once I saw the challenge, I decided to scrap my saved game and start all over with the same sim, just in a new file. But where to post the results of the challenge? Anybody help?
