SOLVED [BUG] Items gone from fridge, inventory and bookcases

Hello,

Though this seems to be a deprecated issue, all the produce disappears from my fridge and inventory (except growfruit) at apparently random times. Flowers stored in The Ornate Beauty remain, and I don't recall having ever put produce in it but will be experimenting as soon as I can harvest again.

I do not have Seasons, nor have I ever used mods. I haven't yet found a fix for this issue in any Google search I've done. 

Any help appreciated!

I see you have posted this issue on the open bug report here and that's all you can do really. If it is a coding bug then it will require the devs to fix it or a modder if you're lucky might also put a fix out.

This bug also seems to effect books in bookcases and plants in the ground. All of which have been reported as also going missing.

It seems as though any plant or produce that is of Normal quality is safe, anything better than normal can go missing.

Until we know more I would suggest that anyone playing a gardener sim does not play that save.
Including perhaps ID players as your death flowers could go missing etc

Fridges and pretty much anything that holds an inventory is pretty buggy right now, all we can do is cross our fingers and hope this gets fixed soon.

I've been playing one of the forum's dynasty challenges and didn't even notice the fridge bug, because:
(1) Produce never spoils, so I never put it in the fridge. I guess simmers want produce in the fridge for cooking, but using fresh produce doesn't change the resulting quality of the meal.
     So all my produce goes into a storage chest, unless my sim is preparing Ambrosia.
(2) My parent sims often hire vegetarian caterers and start a club meeting with Cooking as a club activity.
     The Baker's Cousin Display Case acts like a fridge and lets me drag meals prepared by non-household sims directly into the case (no need to direct my sims to "Put away").
     Plus, toddlers can grab single servings from that case. Recently, the only thing I place in the fridge is medicine, haha.

So, I should probably not be posting here about not having experienced the storage bug in my challenge save.
Usually, right after I do, I get hit by the bug...

I guess the title of this thread is misleading @oshizu as even plants growing in the ground can go missing on opening a save, same as books and other collectibles in chests and items from sims inventories. So make sure you are making back ups regularly as if this bug hits currently there is no fix.

I had no idea that the bug was so far-reaching!
I did notice harvested items had gone missing from a sim's inventory but didn't think twice since the items weren't irreplaceable.
Thanks for recommending that I save frequently. You have helped my dynasty avoid a near-future fail.

np @ozishu and be super careful with your ID etc as there are some real game breaking bugs out there at the moment. Make sure you make a back up save after each play session so at the very worst you would only lose one play-session should you get a nasty bug! I'm sure you do this already but it never hurts to be reminded.

I have ye to purchase Discover University--am I safe from all the recent bugs since I don't have that pack installed yet?
Regardless, I will make to make back-up saves, not just create a new save every Sunday (like I've been doing).

Speaking of which, I am so excited about the individual storage chests.
I thought of you while playing the other night and immediately bought a second storage chest to try it out.
Then I realized that individual storage only comes with the DU pack. Oh well....

Not totally free from bugs as the worst ones seem to have come with the most recent patch!

Yes, weirdly I am a little salty that the individual storage chests are 5 years or so too late! And locked into a specific pack. I really feel this kind of functionality should be base game. Still, I guess least they are available  Sort of.

I am also having any produce above normal quality disappearing in my game.  I think it started after the last Origin patch on 12 November.  There are 200+ MeTo hits on the EA site reporting this bug.

I am finding that above normal produce disappears from my sims inventory, from the fridge and from the flower arranging bench when I travel to any location and also during the night when the season changes.  Some people have reported that produce disappears when they save their game.  This has not happened to me but I always use SaveAs and then exit my game without saving.

For me the above normal produce does not disappear if left on the ground so my work around at present, until this problem is put right, is to build a basement and place produce on the ground in it.  This way I have higher quality produce available to my sim for fertilising, fishing bait and cooking.  Its time consuming to move produce out of and in to the basement but allows me to continue gardening in my games.

I only have Base Game and Seasons so no storage chests are available for me to use.
