The Sketchbook Sucks (Or Maybe It's Just Me)

I try to paint still life, similar to how Sims can with Easels, it a random sketch, that looks nothing like my Sims subject. It's not even a picture, just random lines. What's the point of this? I know it's for the Unversity degree, but it doesn't even give real pictures. I understand the sketching Sims nude part, that makes sense. But still life, should at least be actual pictures, not randomness.
