Avatars are gone again, I'm afraid. I saved the files, but somehow it forgets who they're tied to.... at any rate, as you can see I confirmed uploading them is working. Hey, the time is correct out of the gate!

Some of you will have noticed it took longer than expected. Something was wrong with the first database I uploaded (90mb) so I had to do another export from the other server. An upload that large takes a long time!

Anyway I think everything is back in order. Report errors here.

Ah, that's ok thank to SimGod that only avatars are gone not the accounts

Yeah, it's like some conspiracy to drive people nuts.  I can save literally every other scrap of information, save the files where the avatars are stored, upload it all back, and they're just....gone...!

My avatar never vanished. Maybe because I got mine right from this site? I know the old Lurker one I had went poof probably because it was from elsewhere.

Oh, yep. The diablo folder's still there. I suppose I still need to track down some related to the Sims or something, to give some more categories.

Maybe it will help if we are able to upload the avatar to this forum? Than you have all the stuff at the same place. I was just thinking about this after reading Metro's post about why he thinks his picture never vanished.
I have mine on my computer under Personal Videos and photos. I was just thinking about this, it may could help.
But how... don't ask me. I am a real noob in that field.

To do that, I'd have to make avatars into a category for members. There would be hundreds there that way. It would probably be harder to find your avatar in the long list than to just reupload it. At any rate, the only thing in the foreseeable future that could cause this to happen again is the forum upgrade to SMF 2, but it shouldn't as nothing gets uninstalled during that process.

And if the avatars get the exact name as the members name? Than you just have to search for that name to get an easy find. Such a file can have a name like Leto85Avatar01, if I had more than one. I'm looking for an easy solution so I do think this could be possible.
