Reminder: Move the mods folder to the desktop before updating or launching the game, as the new game update has made most of the mods become out of date. They will need to be fixed by their creator. Look on their site for more details.

Regardless if you use mods and/or custom content it's a good idea to clear the game cache, and localthumbcahche.package file from The Sims 4 folder. This will help troubleshoot any problems with the  game.

 The new patch has made all my terrain paint vanish and the game isn't allowing me to paint anymore down. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Is the sketchpad exclusive to the new career, or can you buy (and use) it outside of it? Won't be able to play before the weekend so asking here...

Anyone else have there game fail to launch after the patch? I am repairing the game now. Hopefully that fixes it.

Problem solved. I emptied the cache files and repaired the game and now it works again. Yay.

The style board is a career unlock, but the sketchpad does not require being in the career.

I can't start a new household and since it's a vanilla new game, I can't play.  I updated my game, no mods, and when I start a sim, instead of being able to choose aspiration etc, I only have an option to choose breed as if sim is a pet. If you enlarge you can see in the upper left hand corner.

A couple more troubleshooting tips:

Repair Game:
In Origin > Games Library, right-click on Sims 4 and select Repair. - It does not make any changes to the saved game files. Meaning that your saved games are safe, they won't be deleted. If you'd like you can copy the Sims 4 folder to the desktop or a USB key.

How this bug got missed is beyond me, sure I can continue to play, as long as I don't mind corrupting my sims/save with junk statics, so technically no choice but to wait and wait and wait, ok I can continue to play pre-patch version on my other machine, others arn't so lucky but makes me angry the game currently exists in this garbage state, forgot father winter, or missing terrain paint, there is single major bug that's stopping this game being playable at all..

I'm very miffed about the Father Winter bug. I had prepped some matriarch sims to make uber-babies with him, and hopefully complete the Positivity Challenge with the kids. Now I have to wait for a fix. Rats!

The tutorial is so very broken. Not only does the Chef aspiration gives your sim conflicting traits (Foodie and Glutton), but I couldn't get a goal to complete without cheating. I did like having a roommate I can't control, wish they added it in the game. I might download a mod for this. Also annoyed about the tutorial-only reward traits (Career-Minded for choosing a tutorial aspiration and Over-Achiever for completing it, both speed up career progression) -- they are powerful and I wish I could get them in normal sims without cheating. Rats!˛

I updated and installed Get Famous at the same time, and so far these bugs have irritated me so much I haven't played the pack yet

 Oh I found another glitch with the update Sims in my town are spawning aspirations from the tutorial, eve capriossas grandson has the "athlete" aspiration when I tried to edit him in cas I'm curious to see what happens if he loves into my household maybe in another save I'll try it
