Kleptomaniac swipe doesn't work?

I made a new sim with the kleptomaniac trait, and it's not able to swipe any objects. Is this fixable?

What is your sim's mischief level?
The type of items she can swipe depends on their Mischief skill.
At Mischief 2, for example, you can only swipe table lamps and such.
Until your sim's Mischief level is higher, try swiping cheaper items.
